You make a movie about the whole ruling society to promote the preciousness and fragility of individualism, so what do you give the protagonist superhuman ability?

main point: a poor attempt. to stress the system's total control, the last thing you should do is to give the main character superhuman powers, he should be real and weak, like a normal humanbeing. its just as ridiculous as making a film about hunger and then cast well-fed atletes ( likie Hunger Games feat. jennifer lawrence). point 1. anti-psychotics are heavy drugs affecting dopamine production. it's unlikely that people taking ''prozium'' would have good motorics, let alone have superman skills. - 2. it takes much more than a day for the drug to fade a way, those drugs works with half-time eriodes. 2 mg to 1 mg in 24 hours, to 0,5 mg in another 24 hours. it takes much longer for the drug to be out of the system. and drugs being out of ur system is not the only thing thats needed. new memories have to be built, new self-definition, new learning process and de-brainwashing process are necessary. So liberation through sabotage the farmacy-facilities is not viable. it takes much more than a day for the drug to fade a way, those drugs works with half-time eriodes. He would not have cared for his wifes death-penalty, nor would his son. 4. a sense-offender could not suvive a day in the equilibrium reality being ''awaken''. that would be much miserable than surviving being in the same trance as the others. 5. a person will never stop using the anti-psychotic because his experiences with out the drug would be unpleasant, he would get scared and grabbed the medication again. 6. '' war = an act of emotion''??? no war has ever been an act of emotion. War takes planning, logistics, pr, opinion making, framing, all of which are calculated moves.nor would his son. 4. a sense-offender could not suvive a day in the equilibrium reality being ''awaken''. that would be much miserable than surviving being in the same trance as the others. 5. a person will never stop using the anti-psychotic because his experiences with out the drug would be unpleasant, he would get scared and grabbed the medication again. 6. In order to completely eradicate the war, people's thoughts are controlled, emotions are imprisoned, and video books are burned. Is this really worth it? The subject of such a proposition is more difficult to shoot, there are still many unreasonable places in the film, plus too many copies of The Matrix and 1984, it can only be said to be quite satisfactory.

I give 3 stars not because of the bad movie. This subject is too difficult to shoot. It would be too reluctant for you to let the most emotional "actor" in the world act as someone who has no emotions. Many places can be better in theory, but I can't do it anyway. I can only say that it looks regrettable. Political irony is too straightforward, and the interlayer yarn might taste better.

Equilibrium quotes

  • Brandt: Cleric, I can only hope one day to be as uncompromising as you.

  • DuPont: And you, Preston, the supposed savior of the resistance, are now its destroyer, and, along with them, you've given me yourself... calmly... coolly... entirely without incident.

John Preston: [Polygraph machine scribbling rapidly] No.

[Polygraph suddenly registers Preston completely in control]

    Polygraph Technician: Oh... Shit.

    John Preston: Not without incident.
