Six bullets, five dead, the mysterious gunman created a massacre in the downtown area and sent the entire city into panic. Police officer Emerson captures James Barr (Joseph Sikora), a former army sniper, based on coin fingerprints and bullet casings in the on-site parking meter. But he insists on his innocence and asks to find old acquaintance Jack Richard (Tom Cruise), who served in the army together. With James Barr beaten unconscious in prison, Jack is left alone to find clues.
Although James Barr's shooting and killing of civilians during his service made Jack think that James might have committed a crime, Jack believes that if James did it, he would definitely be on the highway bridge, so that there is no need to get out of the car, no parking meters, no cameras , no backlight, no traces of bullet casings, etc., and can easily escape.
As James Barr's attorney, Helen is also investigating the case and confronting the case's prosecutor, her own prosecutor's father.
Jack finds himself being followed the first day he arrives, and only the police officer Emerson, the prosecutor and Helen know he's coming. By investigating and tracking the license plate of his car, he learned that the car belonged to the Le Bandel company, and one of the five victims had just rejected the company's acquisition just before the incident. Jack's outrageous behavior during the investigation also led to an arrest warrant from the police.
In the end, Jack enlisted the help of the Marines, fought with the gang behind the scenes in the quarry, shot and killed everyone on the other side and walked away.
"I was born in October. When I count to the month of my birthday, I will shoot." In
the face of several police cars, pedestrians on the side of the road took the initiative to cover the escape of Jack who abandoned the car. How well-reputed the American police are Bad. In the end, Jack, the sharpshooter, broke into the tiger's den with only a dagger, or grabbed a gun by slapping bricks. In the end, he was invincible and brave to give up the hand-to-hand fight to defeat the real killer, and broke into the house to kill and hide with great precision. Pointing a gun at his accomplice in the back of a lawyer hostage is ridiculous.
The car chase scene and the gunfight scene are all very ordinary small scenes, and the suspense of the investigation is also based on the obvious flaws of the murderer.
