General Hammer led people to choose to launch a "terrorist operation", just hoping to seek justice for those soldiers who sacrificed their blood for the country but were ignored by the country. Although this move is extreme, his love for his comrades and soldiers in his heart cannot be ignored. His character design reflects the common problem of many countries: more soldiers who participated in the war were forgotten after the war ended, which is thought-provoking. Near the end of the film, General Hammer orders the missile to be fired, and when it is about to hit the field, he changes the coordinates so that the missile detonates in the sea. The choice between lightning and flint actually shows that his heart still belongs to the country, and he does not want to sacrifice more people. At this moment, he seems to have changed from villain to decent. Perhaps the final death was a relief for him. His actions have successfully made the president reflect on the unfair treatment of soldiers in this country. In a sense, his purpose has been achieved.
Gusby is a chemist and a rookie when it comes to combat. He is more like challenging the limit on many occasions, worthy of a hero. If he had not chosen to participate in "anti-terrorism", but accompanied his pregnant girlfriend, he would not have been a hero. He is also very straightforward. In the process of persuading Mason, he frankly confessed his identity and showed his due sincerity, which is considered to be persuading him. When Mason was about to be brought back by the police again, Goosby told his daughter that his father worked for the police, which made Mason less embarrassed and made his daughter think her father was okay. It has to be said that Goosby is very emotionally intelligent. As a rookie like him, he doesn't know how to swim, so he has to go diving, and he may face many fighters with rich combat experience, and he has to dismantle extremely destructive chemical missiles under huge pressure. In the end, he had a dispute with Mason, and he chose to dismantle the missile by himself. Although Mason came back to help him later, his courage and perseverance were admirable. At the end of the film, he used chemical balls to solve the enemy and gave himself a life-saving agent. Before the air strike, he tried his best to stand up and send out a green signal. There was no urine spot, which was shocking. When the leader called and asked where Mason was, and looked at Mason next to him, Gusby said lightly that he was dead. At this moment, Gusby could be said to have given Mason his freedom, and he would never have to be locked up again. He probably hoped that Mason would also be free to live his old age.
Mason is an agent who has been imprisoned for a long time. Because he was the only one who had escaped from Devil's Island, he had a role to play. Later, he was persuaded to serve the country. In fact, he has always been very swaying, but it is reasonable. After all, he has been detained for so long, and it is understandable that he wants to save his life. He is a very comprehensive killer, and most of the time he is with the rookie Gusby. Gusby's firm belief has convinced him time and time again. When it was only the two of them left, there was an argument, he insisted on leaving, and finally came back to help Gusby complete the task. Goosby finally helped him get his freedom, and he had a happy ending, and he could go to his daughter.
The film reflects political issues, heroism, belief, family affection, and love. I personally think it is a very meaningful film.
