Director style?

Although I've never seen a Western, this is even my first Western. But I can clearly see the difference between "Ground Thunder" and ordinary Westerns.
1. The protagonist of this film is a 14-year-old girl with a strong heart and courage who has never run in the West. In the face of this adult man's world, she often made rude remarks, so that many men had to submit to her pants. The other two protagonists are Rooster, who is not old but has been a little lazy, and Leboeuf, who is arrogant and funny. The two male protagonists are not like the iron-blooded men in traditional westerns, not full of infinite power and inhuman courage, they have their own private desires and emotions.
2. Thanks to the genius of Roger Deakins, a photographer who has cooperated with the Coen brothers for many years, unlike the scenes in the westerns where the sand is full of yellow sand and the sun is setting in the west, the scenery in "Thunderbolt" is rich. The silhouette of the galloping horse, the snow and the shining starry sky, the dense forest of terror. The scenery in the movie is amazing. Thanks to this style of photography, the film is rich in romantic elements and magic.
3. There are often atypical plots in the Coen Brothers movies. The similar plots in "The Thunder" are the hanged man, the dentist wearing bearskin, and the rooster who kicked away two people at the door of the shop. Indian children, leboeuf spanked girls by the river, rooster and leboeuf competed in marksmanship. They don't do anything to advance the story at all. But full of fun. The Hanged Man and the Bearskin Dentist lasted 7 minutes and the marksmanship lasted 5 minutes. 1/10 of a 110-minute movie is a luxury indeed. However, if it is the adjustment of the rhythm of the film, their existence becomes much more reasonable.

True Grit quotes

  • Rooster Cogburn: [referring to the defense attorney] Pencil-necked son of a bitch!

  • Mattie Ross: Who's the best marshal?

Sheriff: I'll have to weigh that. William Waters is the best tracker. He's half Comanche, and it is something to see him cut for sign. The meanest is Rooster Cogburn; he is a pitiless man, double tough, and fear don't enter into his thinking. Loves to pull a cork... The best is probably L.T. Quinn; he brings his prisoners in alive. Now, he might let one slip by now and again, but he believes that even the worst of men is entitled to a fair shake.

Mattie Ross: Where can I find this Rooster?
