There is a feeling of fist hitting soft cotton, strangely unpleasant.
01 Can fantasy films give up character building?
Maybe there is some truth to "story first, metaphorical symbols", but I still think it is more likely to be called a good name. First of all, all the characters in the film give me the feeling that they are "tools to promote the plot", and their identities and behavioral choices serve the development of the story. In short, the movie viewing process lacks in-depth understanding of the characters' characteristics, and it is impossible to gradually understand and establish familiarity and predictability, and there is always a lack of resonance.
The scariest thing is to sum it all up with just "that's human nature" and let's take it for granted that, oh, it's true. Is it really so? In fact, there is a lack of a deduction process. Although people have seven emotions and six desires, for individuals, the important proportion of each element will also be different. It's like blaming someone who is too lazy to make money at all: "You are too greedy for money! Because this is human nature!" It feels a bit baffling.
Be specific about the characters in the film.
Who is the seductive Maxine? It is easy to summarize directly with "desire incarnation", so there is no need to explain the logic of her behavior? Even after she and Lotte lived happily ever after, I still felt that her actions were "following the wind" rather than being sincere. Because what is her true heart? We have not met.
The male lead Craig was unlikable from the very beginning, even to the point where I had the idea of ending the movie because "I don't want to know this man"... He expresses sex and love like no one else on the street, and seems to have a brave and pure attitude towards art. Hold on, but I find this to be misleading. His infidelity to marriage is also so straightforward and boring, and his final behavior is even more contemptible. But why is he such a person? His distorted psyche due to being beaten for not being able to achieve his favorite career? It's not necessarily that, slowly, his pursuit of love and fanaticism completely surpassed his dreams... He is the image of a brainless and rogue man.
My favorite is the character Lotte. Although I don't understand the setting of her closeness to animals, is it because the old man's "noble" evaluation of her can explain why she is willing to tell her the secret? What I love about her: She has a delicate sense of perception and uses a wonderful metaphor to describe what it's like to be "John Malkovich."
02 Is sex the most important thing after transitioning?
I can't help but think of the setting of an episode of "Black Mirror": the two buddies are fighting for the king of fighters, and they end up doing happy things... And in "Your Name", the boy's first reaction is to catch boobs hahaha. Doubt: Can there be more attempts after transgender? Of course, this is perhaps the most direct and most curious thing. It can exist, but the priority should not be so high. Let your imagination fly and meet the audience with a bigger proposition.
The above has directly and profoundly affected my liking, and it is simply impossible to love.
Of course, its setting is interesting: you can transcend into the body of a celebrity, and you can also control the words and deeds of the other party! Thinking of using this feature to prolong one's own life is much more ambitious than Maxine's charging experience and Craig's use of fame.
There are also parts of John Malkovich's subconscious pursuit, revealing that those fragments of his unknown are like small eggs.
Maybe it could be better, after reading it, I have such regrets in my mind.
