runaway bullet

"The Deer Hunter" is a Vietnam War movie. Michael, Rich and Steve participated in the Vietnam War. After nine deaths, Steve lost his legs. The medal that covered the chest came back heavily. Although the film is 3 hours long, it does not have a positive war scene. Instead, it explores human nature through the two scenes of Russian roulette and deer hunting.
Russian roulette used to kill many American prisoners of war as a killing game of the Vietnamese army, and it was precisely using this death game that the three Migao killed the Vietnamese soldiers who were imprisoning them and escaped. However, since then, the game has always cast a shadow on the hearts of the three. When Michael sees his friend playing with a revolver, he grabs the pistol frantically, takes out five bullets, puts the muzzle against his friend's temple, and yells "do you dare?" And Li Qi, who became a lunatic, stayed in Vietnam, became a gambler in an underground casino, and finally shot himself in the game with Michael.
Deer hunting is more like the director's reflection on the Vietnam War itself. Before joining the army, the three of them went to hunt deer in the mountains. Mi Gao pulled the trigger and a stag fell to the ground. It seemed that Little Vietnam was like the deer in their hearts, waiting to be slaughtered. When Michael returned from the Vietnam War, he went to the mountains to hunt deer with his former friends. When a stag entered Michael's bullseye again, he put down his gun.
Why doesn't he shoot anymore? This is exactly the director's question after the war: do you feel that some kind of god is unconquerable, or do you think that after victory, you hope that everything will live in peace from now on? unknown. But we can clearly see from the film that when Li Qi pulled the trigger for the last time, the bullet penetrated his brain from the temple, and the blood gurgled.
People use guns, but they can't dominate the guns, but are killed by uncontrolled bullets pierced through the chamber. Who can claim to be the victor of such a crazy war?

9.5/10. ①Steven, Nick, and Mike all like to hunt deer. The film reveals the influence of the war on them by telling various stories of the three people before, during and after the Vietnam War, such as the nostalgia of a foreign land/cultural barriers and the trauma of war on people (Mike can't bear to kill deer anymore, Steven breaks his legs. , Nick lost in Russian roulette). The film has a conservative political stance and tends to show the innocence and victimization of the United States/South Vietnam and the brutality of North Vietnam/France/Country C (where the casino owner speaks Teochew dialect). ② A large number of rough images and low-saturation toning renderings are brutally depressing. ③ Impressive passages: The wedding was arranged with so many people and things in good order; the two scenes of killing deer were exaggerated holy and sad, which constituted a contrast; The Russian Roulette is also thrilling and heartbreaking; the final table chorus God Bless America renders an unhappy ending with an open-ended composition. ④The first half is too long and drags down more than half of the pastoral beauty; the second half is also somewhat broken, slow and lyrical, and tight and thrilling.

review. epic. Damn it, it's so beautiful. The general rhythm of the previous documentaries is estimated to be uncomfortable for the current audience, but the filming is really good! For such a long wedding, Katyusha still didn't quite understand it, but it was really amazing. The dinner scene in the last scene is also great.
