The Seven Samurai Film Review Age and Eternity
Today I watched the legendary Kurosawa Akira director's film "Seven Samurai", and I can only say that it lives up to its reputation. I didn't feel it was long at all for more than three hours, and I also quietly enjoyed the rest time between films. Conference theme music. That's the kind of charming movie you can't help but love.
I didn't know much about Japan's society and history at that time, and all the concepts such as background environment characters were all derived from the film itself. And I'm not a film professional myself, and I don't know much about the aesthetics of cinema lenses. From the perspective of an ordinary audience, talk about my understanding of the film, two words: era and eternity
era
History is the era that pushes the era forward. Each era has specific promoters, and there are also eliminated groups that are about to be crushed by the wheels. The samurai class is undoubtedly the latter. Although the Seven Samurai are portrayed as the most glorious images in the film, they have extremely positive characters and spirits, but when most of them are buried forever in the loess, the living Kanbei feels that although they have killed all the mountains thieves, but lost the battle, because the victors were peasants, not warriors. Samurai are the group to be eliminated after all.
Why the samurai was eliminated, I think the answer is given in the movie, that is, the gun. All the samurai who died were shot and died. I guess this is what the director can arrange. It is to express the reason for the decline of the samurai class under this trend of the times. If the old-fashioned country wants to develop, the old-fashioned class will disappear.
Was the peasant the facilitator of that era, I think not exactly, but the peasant was the foundation, and the facilitator also came from the peasant. Although they are poor and oppressed, they are forbearing, they are tenacious, they survive, and they have pursuits. Men among peasants, under the guidance of warriors, pick up guns and fight bravely; women among peasants, open as comrades, take the initiative to embrace the strong, and will give birth to new hope. The peasants are also extremely malleable: Wanzao has changed from selfishness to unity, peace has changed from cowardice to bravery, and Liji has changed from commoners to warriors. Therefore, the self-promoter of the times will surely emerge from the peasants. The peasants are only in front of them. It is such a group of cunning and selfish people, those who survive and are strong, those who are tolerant and changeable, and finally become the winners. They are the only winners.
eternal
The waves of the times come one after another, but many things are eternal, just like the samurai class has declined, but many shining points on the samurai are eternal. Take the Seven Samurai as an example: Kuzang has a relentless pursuit and study of martial arts. He does not approach women, does not drink, and devotes himself wholeheartedly. This spirit is eternal. Kanbei, the leader of the Seven Samurai, does not seek fame or fortune, he rescues the weak and the people, and his chivalrous heart for helping the world is eternal.
Gorobei is simpler. He joined the samurai team to help farmers. His original intention was to appreciate Kanbei's person. This kind of sincere friendship is eternal.
Kikuchiyo's sincere heart, Heihachi's humor and straightforwardness, Shijijiro's open-mindedness, and Katsushiro's enthusiasm are all immortal.
I like everyone in the Seven Samurai, like the cunning and honest peasant images, and even the desperate bandits are fresh and cute. This is the first film I watched directed by Akira Kurosawa, thanks to such a master for making such a great film, salute!
