life is a gift

Jojo, a tiny microcosm of being brainwashed by the Nazis.

What I find interesting about this film is that in the context of World War II, a young child, Jojo, who lives with his mother, has an imaginary friend "Hitler", and the two of them talk about everything.

Jojo is wearing a Nazi boy band uniform, and his room is covered with Hitler posters and Nazi flags. His imaginary Hitler can help him overcome his fears, encourage him and give him advice, although this Hitler occasionally quarrels with him. Temper, like a child.

Hitler's existence largely seems to make up for the lack of the father's role in Jojo's growth, vivid and real.

Turning such a devil into a "funny" uncle from Jojo's perspective, do you think you're beautifying him? That's really wrong, after all, the foot that Jojo kicked at him at the end was really pleasing.

At first, Jojo, who couldn't bear to break the rabbit's neck, was laughed at by everyone, and then under the encouragement of "Hitler", she rushed to Captain K and snatched the grenade to start the rampage mode. Do you think his bravery will be applauded? Stop dreaming, he can blow himself up by throwing a grenade.

With a humorous and ironic shell, it is loaded with a warm story, which makes the stories about Nazis and Jews a little easier.

Color is especially good here.

Whether it's mom Rosie in a retro and bright outfit, or the brightly colored houses in town and the way home, this small, fresh hue adds a lot to the movie.

Rosie put on her coat, smeared soot, and apologized to Jojo pretending to be her father.

"Jojo, I know you miss me, but I've gone somewhere else, I'm trying to make a difference in this world, while I'm away, please take care of my Rosie, you can do Are you there?"

"I can do it"

"Thank you, she's doing her best too"

The camera has been focusing on close-up of Rosie's retro red leather shoes, and it is not unexpected that it has entered a turning point.

When Jojo saw the gallows for the first time, she made a "bah" and turned her head, but was forcibly pressed back by Rosie. At this time, a close-up of the hanged person's shoes was given, which was also helpful for Rosie's future use. The gallows set the stage.

"What did they do?"

"Did what they could."

Rosie was eventually hanged at the gallows.

The film doesn't even give her a frontal close-up, only the red leather shoes that appear many times in the shot give the audience a hint.

Rosie used to tie her shoelaces for Jojo, but this time Jojo finally learned to tie her shoes.

Talk about other characters.

The five men in black, who were arrogant before the Russian attack, were the Nazis joking with Jojo's book, and after the war, they were "civilians" who took off their uniforms and tried to hide from the killings.

And the fat lady who is known as the country who gave birth to 18 children, used the children as human bombs during the war, and then rushed to the battlefield with a machine gun full of comedy.

His good friend York, a cute little fat man, is a nonsensical charge on the battlefield, and in the end is just a child who needs a hug from his mother.

Captain K, a standard Nazi, who would have thought he would lie for Jojo and the Jewish girl, and make them eluded by the Nazis.

The clothes he and his assistants wore during the war made people feel happy. After the war, he took off Jojo's coat again, labelled him Jewish and pretended to spit at him, allowing Jojo to escape.

"I feel sorry for Rosie, she was a good person, a really good person."

"You're okay child, now go back to take care of your sister, okay?"

Seeing this, you will find that the concept of the Nazi Party is gradually weakened, ignoring this background, everyone is nothing more than to live.

Love what Rosie said:

You shouldn't be celebrating wars and discussing politics at your age, you should be climbing trees and accidentally falling off them.

Life is a gift, and we have to live every day well.

Jojo Rabbit quotes

  • Yorki: There are bigger things to worry about than Jews, Jojo. There's Russians somewhere out there. They're worse than anyone. I heard they eat babies and have sex with dogs. I mean like that's bad, right?

    Jojo: Sex with dogs?

Yorki: Yeah. The Englishmen do it too. We have to stop them before they eat us and screw all our dogs.

  • Captain Klenzendorf: Well, if it isn't Herr Handgrenade himself.
