How can we do a good domestic animated film

The taste of the Chinese audience is completely raised by pixar and dreamwork. Originally, Chinese animation can only be represented by the happy gray wolf. Now there are such a large number of Hollywood animations, which is really frightening.
3D animation Chinese people are not good at doing it, plus the original local animation has a bad reputation, the poster is unbearable. In this way, local animators do not seem to be able to do 3D.
How about 2D? To be precise, to have a complete world view! I can only look forward to Big Fish and Begonia. Other films, if only to make money for young children, that's fine. But the cartoons I want are really movies for adults to watch. Where is the best Hollywood animation: the core of the story makes adults feel happy and moved, and gain strength from it. The shell of the story is cute and young, and children like it. It's simply a take-all.
Back to Monsters University.
The biggest problem with this film is moderation. Its worldview is too simple, an anthropomorphic American university campus. In this way, this film can be made into a monster gym, a monster kitchen, a monster office...and then there are endless scenes and character stories. Don't you think this setting is weak? The reason why cartoons are cartoons is that they can do whatever they want without spending money on special effects. This is the greatest benefit of animation in my opinion. So the more bizarre it is, the more awesome it is to fill the screen with all kinds of strange tools and characters. Monsters University didn't do that.
The great things about the film are of course:
1. The setting of the plot is very real, there are efforts to fight for the dream, and there are setbacks after defeat. The most pleasing thing is that in the story, the principal did not make an exception to take them in for the hairy monster and the big eye, but still chose to let them leave the school. This setting doesn't fall into the clichés, it's more real. This is one of my favorite things about the movie. In such a more realistic story setting, if the way the characters achieve their dreams and achieve success is too casual and relaxed, on the contrary, I will be disappointed twice.
2. The way the monsters survive is by intimidating humans to gather energy, this setting is really ingenious. Maybe it's because of my lack of imagination, I can't think of any other way for monsters to show the highlights: to distinguish the difference from ordinary human universities, and to show the characteristics of the monster's character itself. More importantly, this setting is very attractive to children.
3. The image and behavior of the monster, nothing else, cute. This feature has reached the point where it is suitable for all ages. If it can't be admired and admired like Spirited Away, then it can be approached and embraced like Minions.
I remembered a film review about Despicable Me 2 I read that day, which summed up the themes of the animated film, which are nothing more than positive themes such as dreams, love, family, self-realization, etc., interspersed with jokes and humor, plus A cute character has basically met the initial requirements of Hollywood animation movies.

It's so average in the animation.

The sequel to Monster Electric, but the plot is a prequel. There are still differences between domestic and foreign university life, so the sense of substitution is not very strong. However, the tyrants who were born in the grassroots and have no talent to study hard and the scum from the distinguished family who are talented and never study set the real second! Everyone has their own position. Hard work may not change your destiny, but it will make your life different! A lot of small laughs, very happy.

Monsters University quotes

  • [as Mike and Sulley exit their Oozma Kappa Bedroom at the same time after waking up, they fall over, and Squishy suddenly snaps a photo of them]

Squishy: First morning in the house.

Art: That's going in the Album.

Don: [Arriving with a Scare Games Letter] Guys, it's arrived, our first challenge.

[Mike struggles to pull it off him]

    Don: Sorry, Tentacles. Kinda Sticky.

    [Mike reads the envelope]

Mike Wazowski: Wait a minute. They want us to meet where?

  • [In the First Challenge of the Scare Games, Mike and Sulley arrive badly stung from the Glowing Purple Urchins at the finish line, just behind the RORs]

Chet: Way to blow it, Oozmas!

Mike Wazowski: Hey, 2nd place ain't bad.

Greek Council VP: [Jaws Theta Chi arrive behind them, unharmed] 2nd place, Jaws Theta Chi!

    Mike Wazowski: *What*?

Johnny: Your whole team has to cross the finish line.

Greek Council VP: 3rd place, EEKs. 4th place, PNKs. 5th place, HSS. And in last place...

[the rest of Mike and Sulley's team arrive, even more badly stung from the urchins than they are]

    Greek Council VP: ...Oozma Kappa!

Greek Council President: [Removing Oozma Kappa's name from the Leaderboard] Oozma Kappa have been eliminated!

[Dean Hardscrabble approaches a surprised and upset Mike, smiling]

Dean Hardscrabble: Don't look so surprised Mr. Wazowski. It would've taken a miracle for...

Greek Council VP: Attention everyone, we have an announcement. Jaws Theta Chi have been disqualified.

[Holds up a tin of Protective Gel that they've been using]

Greek Council VP: The use of illegal protective gel is cause for elimination.

    Big Red: What?

[the referee removes the moisture from George Sanderson's leg, then stabs it with an Urchin, causing it to swell up like a balloon, with George screaming in pain]

Greek Council VP: [Removing Jaws Theta Chi from the Leaderboard and adding Oozma Kappa back on] Which means that Oozma Kappa's back in the games - it's a miracle!

Dean Hardscrabble: Your luck will run out eventually.

    [Walks away]

Mike Wazowski: This is gonna be harder than I thought.
