Starting from "Car Racing 2", Pixar's creativity It started to dry up a bit. "Car Racing 2" is a failed fried rice. When "Monsters, Inc." was going to have a prequel, I couldn't help but worry about Pixar. Is Pixar really ready this time? Is it to repeat the failure of "Car 2" again, or to bring Pixar back to glory like "Toys 3". The answer is that it's neither as unsatisfactory as Cars 2, but it's not a tad or two from Toys 3.
Let's talk about the sequel. Although Pixar has built its reputation on three-dimensional animation, it is impossible for Pixar to become a leader in the industry with only excellent pictures and no excellent stories. What's more, "Toy 1" at that time was very good in terms of creativity and story. Once upon a time, a Pixar product was a guarantee of quality. But not many people dare to say such confident words to Pixar anymore. Some people say, are you too harsh on Pixar, and will you be satisfied with DreamWorks or Blue Sky? The answer is obviously no. It's not that our team, Pixar, is harsh, but that the quality of Pixar's own work has indeed declined. Even if "Monsters University" is produced by DreamWorks, I still don't think it is very good, because it has nothing to do with the production company, it is just a question of the quality of the film.
The story of the film is a typical campus youth comedy routine, just wearing a monster coat. From the beginning, the two hated each other to encourage each other, and then to overcome difficulties together. I don't know how many times I've seen this kind of story in the movie. And Pixar used to be like a scholar in the movie, but just like the ending of the movie, its status as a scholar has long been in jeopardy. It's better not to make this movie than to have a good idea and a good story. We don't need another mediocre animation in this world, what we need is an animation that can move us, let me wash my mind, and let myself devote myself to the world of movies. Even as a fan of "Monster", it's still hard to be moved. Perhaps the most touching thing is that when I see Monster Power, I miss the once infinitely creative Pixar.
When Big-Eyed first entered school, his roommate wasn't the furry monster but the original villain, Lizard Landau. I expected the movie to make a difference in the line of Landau, but unfortunately this line disappeared soon with the appearance of the fur monster, and Rambo's final transformation was also very blunt, originally the protagonist in the previous work , can be so understated in the sequel, it has to make people who have seen the previous "Monsters Power Company" feel a little lost. In the multi-group monster competition that followed, you can actually guess from the beginning that the fur monster and the big-eyed boy will win in the end, so the process of this competition is extremely important. The competition process shown in the video is too stylized. Its own characteristics, and the emotional transformation between monsters is too fast, lacking the necessary foreshadowing. Look at how much foreshadowing Dolly's dad finally approves of Dolly's behavior in Finding Nemo. As for the ending, Pixar just played a clever trick to circumvent it, but did not elevate the ending to a higher level. As Dean Haderskrebo, the dean of the School of Fright, I don't see anything unique about this character, apart from the fact that it is really scary on the surface. It is a very flat character, which is similar to the one in Ratatouille. Compared with the gourmets, the judgment was immediately made. The members of the first team of Big Eyed Boys only played the role of gag, and did not have much impact on the actual plot. In fact, this is a movie about Big-Eyed Boy and Maoguai. Apart from them, there are really few bright spots for other characters. Under the premise of insufficient big ideas, small ideas are also difficult to satisfy. To be honest, the look and feel is really not as good as "Crazy Primitives". I didn't think the originals were so good in detail before, but compared with "Fantastic", it is really better than "Fantastic". Originally, Monsters University should be a very novel place, a world of monsters that we have never seen before. But the film is only limited to the place of Fright Academy. Even though it is the main place where the story unfolds, it is named Monster University after all, not Fright Academy. As for the various courses presented, I didn't see anything exciting. And what is the difference between those clubs and parties and a real university, so I say this is a monster university wearing a monster coat, there is no surprising place, this is fatal to any animation, not only It's Pixar!
Now, Pixar can only look forward to next year's dinosaurs. After all, creatively speaking, it is worth looking forward to. As for the final film effect, please let us trust Pixar again.
