Mulholland Dr.: Living Like a Dream

First of all, I think Mulholland Drive is not a difficult movie to understand - although the details are really good, and it takes a lot of time and care to understand, normal audiences should already understand it when they watch it for the first time. The top four Three out of three broken stories are nothing more than a heroine's nightmare. In the second quarter, thanks to Naomi Watts' superb acting skills, we can easily understand that this is her in real life. Once you understand this, all the weird plots in the previous story will be solved: since it is a dream, there are so many strange and terrible things that are not abnormal.

So from this point of view, Mulholland Drive is a bit like a suspenseful story, when it's written that you want to see the end, the author suddenly tells you that it's all done by aliens... So, I don't I don't think the shaping of dreams is the most brilliant place in this film.

On the contrary, there are two things that touch me the most. While I was watching Mulholland Drive, I kept flashing back to Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard. It's also a bizarre plot, suspenseful murders, Hollywood's drunkenness, famous addresses, the sins of the City of Angels under the Rockies, and the distinctive style of Film noir. David Lynch has won the true heritage of Hollywood's film style in the 1940s. Even the scenes are full of old-fashioned movie singing and dancing style and Qiong Yao's taste. He filmed a dream within a dream, but I saw a scene within a scene. He is paying tribute to his mentors and this dream factory.

But beyond the tribute, it's more of a sarcasm. Diane came to this dream factory, living in a humble apartment, hoping to one day become an overnight success. But real life is all over the place, devastated, with beggars, prostitutes, killers, fast food restaurants, California's never-changing bright weather, and increasingly desperate careers. Camilla is her savior, not only her lover, but also the realization of the American dream of climbing up and finally succeeding. But DreamWorks is not just a dream, besides Camilla's rare, there are also a large number of girls who were finally swept out of this sinful capital of drunken gold fans.

Therefore, what I love most about this film is not the director's brilliant conception and shooting skills, but the extreme irony of Hollywood and the deep sympathy for the tragic fate of a large number of dream chasers. Near the end of the film, Camilla took Diane's hand and said, "A surprise for you." The two walked through the bushes and came to the top of Beverly Hills, silently overlooking the brilliant lights below, all beings. There is only this moment, they are outsiders of the world. In Diane's short life, there is only this moment when her life is fulfilled, although this fulfillment is also illusory, just like her dream.
