Revenge is a meal, best served cold

The film is based on AJ Quinnell's novel of the same name, a 1980 book that was first adapted into a film in 1987.

The synopsis of the story goes something like this: In Mexico City, a criminal organization begins a massive, organized and systematic kidnapping of the children of the rich for ransom. Frightened, the wealthy hired personal bodyguards to protect their children from harm. Businessman Samuel Ramos also hired a bodyguard, Creasy, for his daughter Pita. Creasy was a CIA killer in the United States. After being traumatized, he had nothing to do, so he reluctantly accepted the job after being introduced by a friend. At first, he always used his cold appearance to resist the little girl Pita's various inquiries, but then gradually opened his heart and found the meaning of life. But the subsequent kidnapping of Pita plunged him into a hellish world. He vowed to take revenge on those who kidnapped Pita, disregarding the gunshot wound to his body, and using all kinds of ruthless means to deal with the kidnappers who called themselves "professional, only business".

The first ten minutes of the movie might not be so engaging because I stopped halfway through. . . The appeal of the later plots is magnified by n times. Whether it is the interaction between Creasy and Pita, or the Creasy revenge road that makes people sweat in the palms of their hands later, people can't take their eyes off and can't let go.

Denzel Washington plays Creasy in it. Denzel's temperament is a kind of cold on the outside and hot on the inside (the most irresistible~), especially suitable for playing the protector/savior, even if he wants to play the villain (such as the role in American Ganster), it is absolutely He is a super cool and super cool smart criminal. In this movie, too, he can cut off the enemy's fingers one by one without blinking his eyes, or smash the enemy to the west after he gets the information (it should be more appropriate to never get rid of it), but when he gets information When he heard that Pita was still alive on the phone, his expression changed greatly, his whole body was shaken, and even his voice trembled.

There is one detail. When Pita was about to be kidnapped, Creasy already realized that the situation was wrong, and a bunch of bad guys came over. In the n gun. With such a small detail, the seriousness of the matter in his mind is clear at a glance.

Pita says at the beginning of the movie that he looks like a bear, a big sad teddy bear. To be honest, I feel the same way! Especially when I see him wearing a large basketball uniform and walking with his legs dragging, I feel like he is like a big bear, just like the teddy bear in AI, super cute ~

Dakota Fanning plays the little girl Pita, Smart and smart, likes to laugh and swim, always looks at Creasy with curiosity + inquiry + concern. Dakota is naturally innocent and romantic, and is definitely a model of a little girl that her father wants to protect, because later she worked with Tom in the World War (what a blessing, with so many king-level old men. Handsome guys/actors cooperate). Speaking of which, she appeared in the second episode of Twilight, New Moon, as Jane from the super-super ancient vampire family in Italy. Originally blue eyes have also been changed to blood red.

Almost every second in the film is accompanied by music, sometimes it is the accompaniment of the movie, sometimes it is chanted by human voices. The whole rhythm is intertwined among piano pieces, Mexican winds in Spanish, and percussion. Although I can't understand the Spanish song at all, right, the enthusiasm and sadness in the song can be conveyed completely.

The editing method of the pictures in the film is as if someone took a drug, the colors are strange and unreal, there are constant ghosts and ghosts, and the things that happen and the actions done in the few seconds before and after are repeatedly reversed. This is presumably describing Creasy's mental state. Later, this kind of picture became more and more familiar. Looking back, it was the same way of expression in Domino starring Keira Knightley. After a careful search, it turned out to be a director. . . Tony Scott. Although I think there must be many people who don't like this kind of fantasy and reality, and the camera can sometimes make people dizzy, but I have to admit that this is a very strong support for this movie.

The entire film is set in Mexico City. Finally, when the subtitles are typed, it also says dedicated to mexico city, a very special place. Note that there are no words like amazing here, but special. Special is good or bad, good or bad, this word can be used to sum up.

The truth is, according to the image of the film, as well. First of all, Mexico City is really chaotic, not only is there a lot of crime, but even the police are involved in the criminal gang and become the notorious corrupted Mexican police; however, Mexico City is so vibrant, so different, with The word diverse is not too much to describe, there is always a hunch that no matter what you are looking for, you will find it there.

Mexicans believe in Christianity, almost everyone has a Bible, everyone talks about God, and every house has a statue of the Virgin Mary. The degree of piety is not understandable for an atheist like me; but the young people in the movie are in the club, It was so indulgent and desperate, when the whole club exploded, they still danced and reveled around the fire left by the explosion.

The city is so paradoxical and in constant conflict that it is like forcibly mixing the poles of a magnet together. One can't help but wonder whether this city is a city of sin or a city of God.

  • Fuentes: [with both his hands tied to the hood of the car] You know, I-I'm a professional.

Creasy: That's what everybody keeps saying. "I'm just a professional". Everybody keeps saying that to me. "I'm just a professional", "I'm just a professional". I'm getting sick and tired of hearing that.
