The enchanting flower of gothic aesthetics

I haven't watched a movie seriously for a long time since I was hit by a Korean drama that I always despised and thought was superficial. However, I recently watched a very interesting movie - "Sleepy Hollow".

This is an old movie. In the periodical room of the school library, I had seen a large report on it in Universal Screen. The focus was on JOHNNY DEPP. He was also very popular at that time, but it was different from the one he is now. He was completely a rebellious and melancholy "idol" face. "The Hollywood Male Icon, though he was in his mid-thirties at the time, was still listed, with James Dean, and Phoenix, and Keanu Reeves, radiating melancholy on those coated papers.

The poster of "Sleepy Hollow" is a typical Hollywood poster. The expressions of JOHNNY DEPP and the heroine are cold and frightening. The lower side of the poster is the shadow of the Guillotine Knight wielding a machete, and the scarlet "SLEEPY HOLLOW", the literal translation should be "Sleeping Valley", but I still think this "Sleepy Valley" is more appropriate. First, it conforms to the content of the movie. In the movie, the Headless Horseman cut off the heads of N people. Second, it can scare away some people and then protect some people. For example, some people who read the name of "Sleepy Hollow" will mistakenly think that it is a warm literary film. MM like this, if you watch this film rashly, there is a danger that it will be too shocking.

To be honest, the three words "Dead End Valley" can completely scare away a rat like me. But because I still prefer JOHNNY DEPP, and Tim Burton, the old urchin, is also very appealing to me, so even if I'm scared and sweaty, it's worth it.

The story is smooth. The young and vigorous New York police officer went to Sleepy Hollow to solve the case of the Headless Horseman in order to defend his title. This is basically the story mode of every detective and suspense novel. Watching a person's head fall, his heart trembles, but gradually -- he gets used to it, and the director has not touched the bottom line of the public's fear. It can be seen that some too cruel The place is all montage.

One of my favorite scenes is near the end, when JOHNNY DEPP uses the windmill to escape smoothly, and makes the Headless Horseman trapped in the fire for a while, which is really clever and witty! In addition, CHRISTINA RICCI in ancient costume looks like a delicate elf. It is her sometimes innocent and sometimes dangerous eyes that divert our attention. I can't say more, the suspense story, if it is revealed, it is easy to spoil the beautiful things that were possible. After all, such an interesting suspense story, like the temperament of JOHNNY DEPP, is rare.

It is also the temperament of this movie that blends with JOHNNY DEPP. Gothic is cold, rich, fearful, and confusing. In recent years, the gothic style of Tim Burton movies has become unique in Hollywood. Gothic, originally an architectural style characterized by long spires (such as the famous Notre Dame de Paris), then gradually extended to sculpture, painting, decoration, literature, and the modern Gothic movement emerged in the 1980s in music Domain, considered a follow-up to punk music, focuses on the portrayal of human gloom, sadness, emptiness, and even death, on the other hand, from Hollywood, Tim Burton's film activates the goth aesthetic cells of the general public!

Different from other gothic and typical vampire genre films, Tim Burton's films have a calmness that is almost still, its films have a style of their own, sometimes even with a faint taste of theater, however, the slightest Not afraid that the audience will resist and wonder. In recent years, he has continued to break through the current film style.

Tim Burton, I feel very much like Dali in the painting world. The breakthrough of thinking is like a sharp knife cutting the old and happy, revealing the new branches! So unhappy!
