The moment seize us

I like this movie more than the trilogy. It has to be said that Linklater is too good at capturing the bright spots in the ordinary life. like the final dialogue of the movie

"You know, how everyone's always saying "Seize the moment" ?

I don't know, I'm kinda thinking it's the other way around. You know, the moment seize us.

Yeah, Yeah, I know, it's constant, the moment, it's just, it's like it's just, it's like it's always right now" Our life is made up of these moments, it's not that we capture the moment, it's the moments that make us life.

And the conversation Mason had with his father before he left, he asked his father

"So, what's the point?"

"Of what?"

"I don't know, any of this, Everthing"

"Everthing? What's the point? I mean I sure as shit don't know. Neither does anybody else, okay?"

"We're all just winging it, you know?"

I went to the preview today, and the director and starring came to meet the audience. This movie is so shit. Its production itself is a performance art about time. You can literally see the passage of time on the screen, children grow up and adults get older. This reassures us of the magic of movies in an age where we don't believe in stories on the screen. This is clearly time-space compression magic, time travel practiced with the flesh.

Although everyone praised it, and I saw many shadows of the passing of childhood when I watched the movie, I really didn't take any interest in the shortness of the feathers of the parents. Add a star to the sister when she was a kid, after bullying the younger brother, and still pretending to be pitiful with her mother, saying a good sense of responsibility~~

Boyhood quotes

  • Dad: [frustrated with the monosyllabic answers Mason Jr. and Samantha are giving him] No, no, no. I'm not gonna be *that* guy. You know, the "biological father, who I see on the weekends, and I make small talk with him while he drives me places and buys me shit." No.

Samantha: Dad, these questions are kind of hard to answer.

Dad: What's so hard to answer about "what sculpture are you making"?

    Samantha: It's abstract!

  • Dad: Is she cute?

    Mason: Yeah.

Dad: All right, well, here's what you do, all right, first off you gotta ask a girl a lot of questions, then you have to listen to the answers, actually be interested in her, all right, If you can do those things, you'll be light years ahead of all the other guys.
