It's a straight-forward coming-of-age story, but it's really well told. I like that there was no dramatic moment except for one particular scene. It's a mosaic of life's little moments, but that's what makes life special. At one point , the boy asked: "what's the point in all of this?" The father didn't answer it, but it's exactly that. It's to grow up, to fall in love, to enjoy the happiness with your kids and the sadness when you see them so looking forward to leave the house one day. I don't want everything to be perfect, but to experience all the feelings that make life what it is. "Let the moment seize you", so to speak. eg I didn't 't know Fan would come into my life some 7 years ago, but I'm surely glad that it happened. And when Oliver and his little sister/brother go to college, I'd not skip 40 years ahead to think about my funeral, but enjoy them with the love of my life in our own special ways.
