"Abandoned Soldier" is not just a "big heroine cool drama"

In fact, I didn't start to feel it until I watched five or six episodes. Before that, the heroine Beth gave me the feeling that she was "cold". She is a genius from heaven, and her talent and tranquilizer are the golden fingers of the screenwriter, so that she can win all the way. Her relationship with the people around her is estranged, even a bit exploitative, and she can't see her exposed emotions, which makes it a little difficult for me to connect with this character.

But the meaning of the story suddenly enriched from the sixth episode: we saw that the invincible Beth also has people he cares about, as well as vulnerability and fear; we saw this show's faint tribute to the feminist movement in the 1960s-genius female chess Hand's deeds are also inspiring the girls around her to be better people in their fields; seeing the emotional camaraderie between women, as Jolene said, I'm not your guardian angel, we are family; seeing those who don't The self-esteem and persistence of such a talented person; I saw the mutual sympathy between chess players that transcends external factors such as gender and nationality.

If you have to say that "Abandoned Soldier" is a "big heroine drama", it is also a relatively new drama for Chinese audiences - the heroine is really focused on her career and has no intention of falling in love; she Interactions with other male characters are based entirely on intellectual equality and mutual respect, and they did help her, but her breakthrough was her own.

And it's interesting to launch such a drama set in the 1960s and the Cold War this year. The current political impasse in the United States can be traced back to the civil rights movement and the counterculture movement in the 1960s, and the Cold War-style ideology has also made a vague comeback in the past two years. To the latter, the show ends with a nice response. Beth left the agent's car and went to a Moscow park where he was greeted by old street chess players and invited to play against one of them. The finale stopped at the moment when Beth placed his pieces, looked straight ahead and said "Let's play chess" in Russian, and I was moved to tears.
