Thinking is scarier than ghosts

Just got bored at home and found this movie

When watching this film, the first half of the film is actually quite the routine of the usual ghost films, such as the psychic little girl, the sound of the door opening inexplicably, the "people" that suddenly appeared, and the neurasthenic mother... These elements are enough to make We think of any classic horror movie so in the first half I was already trying to guess the possible endings and even after doing the guesses the movie felt a little bland

Obviously I was wrong...

The wonderful thing about this film is that the reversal at the end even after the reversal goes back to the details of the maid's language and the story of the little girl victor, and suddenly finds that everything is so reasonable.

What's more terrifying is not "they are actually ghosts", but who are "the others". The boundary between life and death is suddenly cut open. The two worlds of yin and yang cause people to think in this strange inversion.

Even though they already knew they were dead, none of the people in the film accepted their fate. The three servants insisted on returning to the place where they "had the happiest time of their lives." The mother and two children insisted that "this house is ours." "They don't even recognize that it is this obsession with "life" that keeps them at the boundary of yin and yang.

The question of where people go after death has always been pondered by human beings and will never be answered. This film takes a different path and provides another explanation for the fate of people, just like the TV series "The Vampire Diaries" I watched before. People still walk in the current world after death, but the difference is that the dead in "The Vampire Diaries" can see the living, but the dead in this film can only manipulate objects.

Isn't this the opposition between the destination of the spirit and the flesh?

It is true that we will never know where we will go after death, but it will not stop human beings from thinking about death, and it will not stop people from longing for life. Thinking is the most frightening place for people

(In the end, Nicole is too beautiful as a digression _(´ཀ`” ∠)_

The Others quotes

  • [repeated line]

    Nicholas: Mummy!

  • Grace: [regarding Lydia] Was she born like that?

Mrs. Mills: Beg your pardon, ma'am?

Grace: The girl. Was she born a mute?

    Mrs. Mills: No.

    [looks uncomfortable]

Mrs. Mills: I think I've finished here, ma'am. If you'll excuse me, I think I'll go and see if Mr. Tuttle needs a hand.
