When Sun Erniang meets Love Saint

I don't like pretending to be B, so I'm not a literary youth; but that doesn't prevent me from seeing something that seems very literary. Literature and art is an extremely relative concept. Reading two books that everyone does not read does not mean literature and art; it does not mean that you do not have a heart that is eager to pretend to be a B. When I sat lazily in the spring sunshine, watching the fourth- and fifth-level spring breeze blowing my window glass, I couldn't help but feel resentment: a quiet afternoon is really fucking rare. I was disgusted by this irregular movement in my heart. In fact, I couldn't blame the annoying spring breeze at all, mainly because I watched a movie called "Todd the Barber" at noon.
A former colleague from the former company, Xiao Bai, told me that her favorite male star is Johnny Depp, which is actually okay, but he is definitely not my type. I prefer the latter to George Clooney. So, even in terms of men's taste, I am not literary. In my eyes, Depp is always a bit demonic, and I feel uncomfortable watching it. Although he played very well, the "Edward Scissorhands" that year also touched me very much.
Helena Bonham Carter is my favorite, women with some flirtatious elusive breath, always seduce me. Although I don't remember her role in Fight Club, she's in Planet of the Apes and Harry Potter. The feeling of non-standard beauty, the ease of swimming and the little despair that doesn't show time, make me feel so real.
Tim Burton is also a master, "Zombie Bride" and "Sleepy Hollow" are all good. Especially "Big Fish" and "Edward Scissorhands", the intercourse between the fairy tale world and the adult world, we are lost in the world of color. The yellow daffodils in the big fish, the love that has been waiting for twenty years, the simplicity of wanting to hang up your shoes to stop your wandering steps, how many people have looked forward to it? Edward, with scissor hands, has the softest heart. I always remember the ice flowers flying all over the sky, the houses of different colors in the town and the various trimmed plants, and of course Depp's eyes.
In fact, as far as this movie is concerned, after watching it, I have no deep feelings. It wasn't the R16 grading that attracted me, or Depp's vocals, or Tim Burton's reunion with Depp. In short, it's a mistake, there are some unknown reasons, or, everyone is watching, so I will. As everyone goes to work, so do I. Unconsciously losing the ability of self-judgment, it is much easier to follow the crowd.
It's just that I'm still a little uncomfortable watching this movie at lunchtime. Especially uncomfortable when those gooey stuff comes out of the meat grinder. When I was in the country, my friend's house fed many dogs, and every day, the meat and pasta were ground into a paste and fed to the dogs. I've seen raw meat and other things mixed with water, basically like in a movie. The blood is not terrible, it flows freely, and those who are killed are like lambs, and they voluntarily sacrifice their necks.
The movie has always been shrouded in a dark tone, the same tone as the poster, which is very Depp's feeling. The story begins with a plot, like The Count of Monte Cristo, where the vengeful man returns from a long journey. Next, his description of London is somewhat like Perfume's description of Paris, where all the filth and sin are concentrated. Then, much like traditional Chinese martial arts novels, revenge, murder, and retribution. Mrs. Lovett is just like the Sun Erniang in Water Margin, a ruthless character, a last resort in the difficult world, but a true temperament. It's a pity that she is a woman, love is wrong. Todd was trapped by his revenge, and this woman was nothing but his means. So, when Todd found out that his wife was still alive and just relegated to the streets, Mrs Lovett was pushed into the fire. This is an irreversible fate, a woman cannot be wrong in the choice of a lover. In fact, the story is still not thorough enough. Todd didn't recognize his daughter. After that knife, it was really clean. So, after reading it, I don't feel deeply, I just feel that Mrs. Lovett is so pitiful.
The music was still great, with a few staggered vocals that were nice. Different people's different emotions, their own thinking and different ideas are intertwined in the same time and space, and the scenes and angles are exchanged. The director has put a lot of effort into it.
Now that I think about it, the most impressive thing is the splattered blood. It may be warm under the sun, but against that gray background, all I can feel is the icy stickiness, the stickiness like resentment.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street quotes

  • Mrs. Lovett: So what are we gonna do about the boy?

    Sweeney Todd: Send him up!

Mrs. Lovett: No, Mr. T. Surely one's enough for today. Besides, I was thinking of hiring the lad to help me run the shop. Your poor knees aren't what they used to be.

    Sweeney Todd: All right.

Mrs. Lovett: Of course, we're gonna have to stock up on the gin. Boy's drinking like a sailor.

  • Judge Turpin: I have news for you, my friend. In order to shield her from the evils of this world, I have decided to marry my dear Johanna.

Beadle: Ah, sir, happy news indeed.

Judge Turpin: Strange, though, when I offered myself to her, she showed a certain reluctance.

Beadle: [sings] Excuse me, my lord. / May I request, my lord, / Permission, my lord, to speak? / Forgive me if I suggest, my lord, / You're looking less than your best, my lord, / There's powder upon your vest, my lord, / And stubble upon your cheek. / And ladies, my lord, are weak.

Judge Turpin: Stubble, you say? Perhaps I am a little overhasty in the morning.

Beadle: [sings] Fret not though, my lord, / I know a place, my lord, / A barber, my lord, of skill. / Thus armed with a shaven face, my lord, / Some eau de cologne to brace my lord / And musk to enhance the chase, my lord, / You'll dazzle the girl until...

    Judge Turpin: Until?

Beadle: [sings] She bows to your every will.
