If he finally overcomes his inner demon, will the ending be rewritten?

If love is a powerful force, then this force will not only dig out the talent hidden in your heart due to lack of self-confidence, but at the same time, it will also make you face your most vulnerable side, and even knock you down.

I couldn't cry when I saw it at the end. I clearly told myself that I should not be too emotional when looking at other people's life stories. It's good to learn some experience from it, but it still didn't restrain my final outburst.

I thought the ending would be a bit cliché. Ally finally abandoned Jack and started his peak music career, and their marriage inevitably went to demise. Although this is not what I want to see, it is very realistic, because each other is no longer the one who fell in love with each other in the first place, and their stage and reputation have changed more or less. (Interjection, this reminds me of lalaland, I will discuss this part when I have time)

The part of her true self that Jack had been trying to find her might no longer exist, and perhaps this might be the last way he wanted to keep her. I don't know if Ally is only temporarily lost after becoming famous, but this is actually quite important, because if she forces herself to be another person in order to satisfy the audience, she will eventually find herself, and maybe reconcile with Jack. But if she really just wants to be famous, then their attraction to each other at first is just use and illusion. Of course, this part is the image that came to my mind when I watched the movie, and it was also my guess about the ending.

The end of the movie gave me the answer. Ally didn't give up on him, just like Jack didn't give up on her in the first place. Even though he made Ally so ugly in front of the screen, it might ruin her music career at one point, she still held him in her arms and said don't worry, it's okay.

But in the end, he gave up.

It's just that what he gave up was not a waiter who accomplished nothing, but a shining star. He wanted to hold her in his arms selfishly, but he didn't want to become her burden and shatter her dreams, so he finally chose to commit suicide.

Is this the magic of love, or the shackles of love?

I don't think I understand him completely, like Jack's brother said, everyone who sang his songs after he left felt like they understood him, but they didn't understand anything.

And the part I understood was, was suicide the bravest thing he'd ever done? Why didn't he put his courage in overcoming his inner demons, completely quit drinking and drug addiction, and fight with Ally's future, and stand by her side in the most sunny posture again, why didn't he give himself a chance to go change?

I also know it must be difficult.

A Star Is Born quotes

  • Jack: Can I touch your nose?

    Ally: Oh, my gosh.

Jack: Let me just touch it for a second.

[He slides his finger down her nose]

    Jack: You're very lucky.

    Ally: Oh, really?

    Jack: M-hm.

Ally: Yeah, not really. My nose has not made me lucky.

  • Jack: Look, talent comes everywhere. Everybody's talented, fucking everyone in this bar is talented at one thing or another. But having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it, that's a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you'll never know. That's just the truth. And there's one reason we're supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear. Don't you understand what I'm trying to tell you?

Ally: Yeah, I do. I don't like it, but I understand it.

Jack: Oh, I think you like it a little bit.
