For this article, I must give 1 star to GAGA's singing, 1 star to the music of the two, and the rest to the movie itself.
The domestic ratings are not very high, but the word-of-mouth box office has soared abroad. The polarization must be due to Chinese and Western aesthetic factors, but I have to admit that this is more like a movie made for Americans.
After a little bit of understanding, you will know that this film has been remade for the fourth time. Why it can be remade four times is probably that what it really wants to talk about has different interpretations in each era - the rise and fall of singers. Unlike in China, the real development of the domestic music market has to start from the 1980s, but in the 1980s, the third edition of this film was made! ! How many music scene phenomena in the past few decades have not appeared in China, and the United States has repeated them many times. Therefore, American audiences can see a lot of shadows from the American music scene in this film, which is difficult for Chinese audiences to understand. Differences in cultural background are perhaps the biggest cause of polarized commentary.
Many people say that the waterloo in the second half of the plot is very fast, but objectively speaking, it is indeed not as stunning as the first half. For people who love music (such as me), the first half looks like a beautiful love!
When I meet someone who likes me, I can sing on stage and create a lot of songs that both of them like and satisfy together. I gradually go to the front of the stage to show my musical attitude to the audience, express, sing, and play, and then it is love.
The journey of the two is also very realistic. For example, ALLY, who was discovered from CLUB, and JACK, who is shining in the country rock music scene, but one is rising, and the other is going to self-destruction because of alcohol and DRUG. It represents most of the singers who rose from the grassroots in the American music scene, as well as the singers who ended abruptly because of GRUG and alcohol. Although they both maintained their old-fashioned fixation in the end.
The movie makes these two contradictions meet and weave a unique 12-note. This is sadness or joy. Even if it is sadness, someone will eventually die.
So the second half may be a bit rushed when dealing with this part, but I still think there is no shortage of bright spots. For example, the application of color, every time when JACK wants to drink alcohol to maintain his stage state, the whole picture is red or dark blue, it is difficult to see JACK's expression, and his movements are also very broken, I don't know if it is On purpose, the clips in this part are usually very fast. I would feel that the language of the shot is expressing JACK's worsening state and the drastic turn of events. Compared with the first half, every performance can see the process of them walking to the stage.
Of course, if you want to say that there are also red lights in front, isn't it a crisis? The same color expresses different meanings in different backgrounds. I personally think that the red in the first half of the show has the attributes of the bar and the stage itself, but it is also a signal of creative inspiration and burning love for the two people.
Overall, I really like the way the movie uses a series of several songs to set off the overall situation. Especially the last song, it's so simple, I listen to the song first and then watch the movie. When I listen to this song again in the context of a movie, will the sentences touch my heart? In the end, the live singing was cut back to when the two of them shared this melody together for the first time, which was simply a soul crit! ! !
ANYWAY, to appreciate a movie, it is better to go with cultural background and thinking, maybe what you see will be different~
(Just looking at love is a bit of a waste)
