A Star Is Born

When I read Wang Xiaobo's book recently, I felt that his book has a set of logic. I don't know if it is because he studied science. He needs 100% of his energy to read it, otherwise he doesn't know where to go. If Haruki Murakami's writing gives people a gentle feeling, although he is a layman, he still sits next to you like an old man who sees through the world, patiently solves your confusion, and tolerates your mistakes and stupidity; then When I read Wang Xiaobo's book, I felt that I was a layman being stared at by him, and even a little thought would never escape his eyes. It is for this reason that I read the preface to "A Maverick Pig" today, one of the sentences: My opinion is nothing more than some pleas from the author. All I ask of my readers is that they don't ignore my sincerity. The concern of this sentence made me suddenly wonder if I was reading Wang Xiaobo's book? Shouldn't he be the sharpest and darkest? Having said that, I also agree with Russell that there are many views that seem to be a general ethical principle, but are actually just a special kind of plea. Although I can't do it like them, I think life is boring, and it should be possible to try to grab a little interest and fun. Rarely, my brother is interested, and I watched the 2019 Oscar-nominated movie "A Star Is Born" with him today. The story is relatively simple, and in fact it is not the inspirational story of the sad journey from ordinary people to superstars that I thought. It is about a middle-aged star whose star career is declining day by day, and encounters a girl who sings in a bar. He discovers her talent, and the two develop feelings for each other. He helps her achieve success, and the two also achieve positive results. But in the end, the male star caused trouble for the female star because of alcoholism and hearing problems. After being reminded by the female star's agent, he realized that he was a stumbling block for the female star and committed suicide. The male lead Jackson is played by 45-year-old Bradley Cooper, who is also a director and producer. This is his first directorial film. Mistress Ally by Lady Played by Gaga, this is also her first film. The film begins by portraying Jackson's loneliness. From the exciting stage exit to getting in the car for a drink and telling the driver to go anywhere; from the strong music to the music that gradually fades away and the clear sound of the turning lights in the car, all kinds of contrasts tell the audience that this is a A star whose star career is gradually fading, he is more like completing a job. After he leaves, the music will not stop there. There will always be new people and new stars. Going into a bar casually, I originally planned to get drunk as usual, but when I met the singer Ally, listening to her songs and watching her performances, his eyes became clear, gentle, serious, and even left tears. This is one of the most moving pictures. Watching the full movie and looking back, when he fell for her, it was more like he had found himself. When he and Ally later separated, they were busy with their own performances. One night he drank again in a black man's garden, and the two talked, and the black man saw that he was worried about Ally, and the black man said: You are floating, you are floating at sea, and then one day, you found a port and said: " I'm going to be here for a few days." A few days turn into years, and then you forget where you were going in the first place. Then you find that you don't really care where you're going. Because you have settled down. I was like that, I settled down. I didn't even realize how much I loved it until I saw you sleeping on my lawn this morning. Jackson is such a lost man, he's trying to find himself. Although the movie title points to the protagonist as Ally, I think Jackson's character is more full. When receiving alcohol treatment, Jackson revealed in a conversation with his companions that his father was an alcoholic when he was a child, and his brother was wandering outside. He took his father's belt and wrapped it around the ceiling fan and tried to commit suicide. The whole fan fell from the ceiling. He laughed with him again, and then he said that he had a big cut on his forehead, but the injury was worse than suicide, and his father didn't even notice it. The companion stopped smiling. He also mentioned before that his mother died in childbirth. Nonetheless, he bought the land where his father was buried and left it to his brother to take care of it, not wanting others to walk past his grave. He drank heavily, and he followed his brother's musical dreams, who became his manager. "Being a father's alcoholic partner" certainly isn't about getting a little more so-called love. At the Grammys, he was drunk and unconscious, and Ally came up on stage to accept the award, and he went up like an alcoholic, talking nonsense and peeing his pants. After waking up, he cried like a child who had done something wrong. Because of alcoholism, he brought marijuana to the person he loves the most bother. And wine, he learned when he longed for the love of his father, who died when he was thirteen. Sadly this is the only thing his father taught him. So the drinking at the beginning of the film, going to the bar, does he really need alcohol? Lonely people are more introspective and more able to see themselves. But this is also relative. Before Ally's big gig, he said earnestly: "If you don't dig deep into your soul, people won't like you. Don't worry about why they listen or how long they'll listen, just tell them what you want to say because you It's beautiful to say." He hoped that she would stay the same and keep the truth of the first sight. But at the end of the performance, Ally's performance has been commercialized, the lighting is beautiful, the stage is gorgeous, the makeup is fashionable, but there is no soul. He was so angry that he said, "You are so ugly". Isn't Ally the lost one? Why didn't he know she would be lost? While he was angry with her, he was disappointed with himself and helpless. Some things are hard to sever, like seared deep into the bone. After turning around, I found that it was still back to the original point, and the pain was still there and never subsided. Ask me what kind of person I am, I am not 100% good or 100% bad, I am not 100% right or 100% wrong, I am not completely clear, and I am not completely confused. All the imperfections make up a me, a synthetic me, a chaotic me, a complex me. Therefore, I sometimes do not know whether I am wrong or right, even if I follow my heart. You might say follow your heart, and you're right. But there is always a ratio between following your heart and the big environment. If the big environment involves your beloved, is it right to follow your heart? Me, sometimes close to me, sometimes far away, but most of the time, I'm neither far nor near. When Ally's agent came to Jackson, he was far away from himself. He knew that he couldn't follow his heart. Following his heart made him realize that he couldn't cut off the things that he had to cut off, and these things would hinder Ally. As explained by his brother, Jackson insisted on the original intention: twelve notes between octaves, twelve notes, octave repetition, the same thing, said over and over again. All an artist can offer the world is how they see the twelve notes, and that's it. He likes how you see them. He kept saying, "I love how she sees them." They loved each other deeply, but there was nothing they could do. Is it really powerless? The answer given by the director was yes, he couldn't cut it, he still took the medicine, and he still committed suicide by tying himself to the fan with a belt. I think you'd say it's not that difficult, do you have to commit suicide? Let's communicate well, can't we? Can't find any way? But sometimes, away from

A Star Is Born quotes

  • Jack: Can I touch your nose?

    Ally: Oh, my gosh.

Jack: Let me just touch it for a second.

[He slides his finger down her nose]

    Jack: You're very lucky.

    Ally: Oh, really?

    Jack: M-hm.

Ally: Yeah, not really. My nose has not made me lucky.

  • Jack: Look, talent comes everywhere. Everybody's talented, fucking everyone in this bar is talented at one thing or another. But having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it, that's a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you'll never know. That's just the truth. And there's one reason we're supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear. Don't you understand what I'm trying to tell you?

Ally: Yeah, I do. I don't like it, but I understand it.

Jack: Oh, I think you like it a little bit.
