After rethinking what the so-called film means to people, I went back to the starting point: film is a dream machine. Sometimes people will deliberately forget this, thinking that if you don't go deep, you can't survive, and then you can't get out. Some people even regard what they do not understand as classics, which shows that it is terrible to have no independent judgment ability. The difficulty is not that the ghosts of a simple truth cannot understand it, but that the truth of life is told with a simple story.
It would be unfair to talk about the film in terms of its play structure, which is not seamless. But the flaws do not hide the truth, its sincerity makes people dull, and the flaws also become cute here. The first is Rancho. His childhood experience is too brief. We must know that childhood is crucial to the shaping of personality. We only know that he is the child of the master gardener, a math prodigy. But why does he play the role of spiritual mentor for everyone in the university? All kinds of sharp wisdom and wise sense of humor do not match the age of the characters. And the last happy ending has been revealed halfway through the film, Rancho is Wangdu. In the play, a close-up of Wangdu's secretary's photo is used for n seconds to insinuate - the background passerby in the photo is Rancho. If you use this trick alone, it's okay, although I don't understand why three smart people who graduated from famous universities didn't find this thing after passing a circle of photos. But here is superfluous to let Chatur introduce the gorgeous background of Wangdu, such as more than 400 mechanical patent inventions, engineering scientists, etc. The results are ready to come out. Because the play here is obvious, it makes people less surprised at the end of the film. But since the focus of this film is not the twists and turns of the bizarre plot and unexpected ending, it makes sense.
The film uses a cross-narrative structure, but the focus remains on Farhan's recollections, fleshed out in three complete recollections through a journey to find Rancho. The film conveys to us an attitude from beginning to end: ALL is well. This is not the point of what I want to say, the point is that it insists on criticizing a rotten system and absolutely not right for people. Although Dr.Viru is hateful, or he is the embodiment of the corrupt system in the movie, he directly led to the suicide of three young lives. However, the spearhead of criticism never deviates from the direction. Dr. Viru's reconciliation with Rancho in the end also means that with Rancho's efforts, the most solid pillar of the corrupt educational system has also collapsed. This treatment of Dr. Viru is an expression of great love, perhaps more profoundly than the more obvious help and camaraderie of the film's theme.
The composition of the film is very particular, and pressing pause anywhere is a beautiful picture. And the use of red elements throughout the film. The red dormitory door and bath door represent the friendship of the three people, the student dormitory is full of red doors that represent hope and vitality, but the door to the classroom and Dr.Viru's office is a lifeless black and gray tone. The red motorcycle representing the love of Rancho and Pia, this is the testimony of the beginning and sublimation of their love, what color can express love better than red? There are also three people who are looking for the red car that Rancho drove during the entire journey. Whether it is aerial photography or a boom, it is always the most eye-catching red in the picture. It is not like looking for a lost friend, but more like a spiritual pilgrimage.
The movie tells us a complete story with three memories:
The first part is also the first memory. Farhan and Raju have little role in this part, just as witnesses to Rancho's saga. Rancho's appearance brought a whirlwind. When all the freshmen took off their pants to do a stupid underwear ceremony, Rancho used a physics knowledge learned in the second year of junior high to harass the hegemonic sophomore senior. Then he began to constantly challenge the authority and pointed out the shortcomings of the current education. Even if he failed, he could continue to fight by saying ALL is well to himself. Although it is a heavy subject, it was shot lightly and funny, and even interspersed with a lot of traditional Indian songs and dances. In the process, he also won the hearts and minds of beauties for his correct views on love. Through the escalation of several things, the image of Rancho has been completed from all sides, and he has become a symbol of the spirit of the film. In the final graduation photo of the story, he in red became the only bright spot in the photo.
Then came the second memory. The focus is on Rancho's two friends, Farhan and Raju. Both have their own different pressures and are accustomed to compromising with the world. No matter how good they are, if the weakness in this character does not change for a day, failure will follow. So the play was drastic and created a desperate situation. An extreme pressure was thrown on the two of them. If they did not change, they would die. Although it was cruel, the two quickly realized the fact that they couldn't sit still. Relying on Rancho's encouragement, they quickly recognized themselves and stood up.
The third part talks about the reconciliation with Dr.Viru. The first blockbuster was Pia's accusation of her father for forcing her brother to death. If this opens a crack in the hard shell, then the next process of the students delivering sister Pia's birth will make Dr.Viru's strong city wall It fell apart. Dr.Viru has always adhered to his rote education and placed himself on the altar of authority without question. But when he saw that under the command of Rancho, everyone made a generator out of ordinary household appliances, and the whimsical thing made of a vacuum cleaner was no less than a professional midwifery device. All this in just a few days. Completed within minutes and saved the lives of mothers and children in time. Dr.Viru saw the light of a true scientist in Rancho at this moment, which he did not have. So he gave the pen to Rancho and walked down the altar himself. It would be inaccurate to think that Dr. Viru reconciled with Rancho because Rancho saved his daughter.
After the story is told, although it is a youth comedy, it has touched everyone who has seen it.
