Everything in the film originated from the cute and kind front desk man. If it weren't for him, he couldn't help but tell Rebecca that there was another interview, and nothing would happen. He only appeared in two shots, but became the real deciding figure in Rebecca's fate.
You can say that this is the plot of the movie. But in real life, many times our destiny is determined by a small act of a person who does not seem to have much to do with us.
