This is the second German movie I've watched after "The Tin Drum". As a German fan, I feel guilty and determined to start making up for this lesson!
I was deeply moved by the movie! The HGW XX/7 that is cold on the outside and hot on the inside, cold first and then hot! In fact, he is a typical German in my heart, rigorous, solid, dedicated, unsmiling but full of inner emotions.
The whole film is full of comparisons.
A comparison of him and the writer's room. His house is clean, without any decorative furnishings; while the writer's house is full of romance and warm like home.
Comparisons between him and the writer's friends and lovers. He doesn't have any close friends, at least I didn't see it, only prostitutes to vent their emotions; while the writer is a beautiful person and a cloud of friends.
Comparison of his before and after psychological activities. Before, he was ruthless and kept the suspect from sleeping for 48 hours; after that, he read a book of poems by the author with happiness on his face.
A comparison of his situation before and after. He used to be a teacher at a secret service school, and then he could only open envelopes silently in the basement. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he became an equally silent postman.
He is like a ghost, the writer is a flame, a real individual.
No matter how you look at it, he is a loser, but in my mind, he is a winner. I'm already in love with him, even though I know that in real life he will be very boring and boring.
What made me quite emotional and surprised was the ending, I thought the writer would catch up with him and thank him. But no, I just wrote my deep gratitude into the novel. Everyone has their own life. Other people's lives, not only for HGW, but also for writers.
I'm ashamed, I didn't even know that East Germany used to implement such a cruel secret police system before, and I was ignorant. I remember when Grandpa Ju told us about political economy, it was on the swing in West Germany that he understood the true meaning of socialism - not just blindly imitating Marx, but actually improving productivity and people's living standards. After reading some books on the Soviet Union and East Germany, I gradually understood why the West hates communism so much, but communism is simply misunderstood! And the hostility caused by these misunderstandings will probably continue for another century...
I only found out that Ulrich Mühe, my beloved HGW XX/7, died of stomach cancer in 2007 when I searched for actor information! Not long after he got the Golden Man for this film! I am heartbroken! I was still thinking about looking forward to more of his new films, but I got the bad news!
The highest tribute to this great actor!
