I don't understand a plot in "Murder with a Knife"

I watched Tom Cruise's "Murder with a Knife" again today, and I didn't understand one of the plots. Now that I think about it, I searched the Internet for a long time to no avail. It was at the beginning, in a lobby that forgot whether it was an airport or a station, the killer played by Cruise was carrying a suitcase in the crowd, and an anonymous played by Jason Stan was carrying the same handbag in the hand of Cruise. The box came over, the two collided, the suitcase fell, the two greeted each other, picked up the suitcase and left.
At the time, I thought they took each other's suitcases by mistake, because they were exactly the same, but the plot didn't develop like that, because the information in Cruise's box was still there, so I didn't know the plot of Senstein coming out and bumping into it. What exactly did it do.
