Few people in this world know the truth and willing to brake silence. Generally, people are afraid of making mistake, taking risk, disobeying peer's view.

Michael Burry, Mark Baum is among one of the few. The have the strength and willingness to commit what they truly believe rather than follow the majority.

That 24k asshole who sell bets on CDO, synthetic CDO, of course knows the hype of market.
However, our society don't want to see the worst, people underestimate the likelihood of worst things .
As if they can never happened.

Although, this film is not very entertaining, after I watch PBS documentary (another one describing 2009 Financial Crisis in a more cinematic way. The PBS really know the point to strike and enlarge the scars.), this film still works on the right things .

That's why I highly rated their effort to create this film. It's definitely has its educational purpose.

I don't like that there is something in it... which is very self-sensational, and that kind of deliberate ridicule, which is very boring. How should I put it, this kind of self-engulfing of capitalism, there is nothing worthy of reflection or emotion. It is almost an objective, unshakable instinct. We seem to have made reflections, borrowing the eyes of a few marginal people. In fact, everything is rooted in blood, and all reflections seem naive. Nothing will change.

The Big Short quotes

  • Vinnie Daniel: But wait, you *are* the bank, I mean, you work for the bank. I bet your margins are pretty nice and fat.

Jared Vennett: Let's not talk about my margins by the way. Being nice and fat... That's a nice shirt, do they make it for men?

  • Charlie Geller: Our investment-strategy was simple. People hate to think about bad things happening so they always underestimate their likelihood.
