Escape from "Room" is superfluous

The film is based on the novel of the same name, and the same news of confinement sex slaves occasionally occurs. In fact, this is not a movie, it can be divided into two parts, the upper and lower parts, and there are not small differences between the two parts.

The front part is a day of confinement in a shack, and the back part is a day of confinement in the real world. The first half is a suspense-type haunted house, and the latter becomes a family ethics drama. As a commercial film, this type of mixing is dangerous, and it is a great challenge to the audience's understanding. After all, the emotion, plot, and story have all undergone major changes.

The first half of "Room" chose to use suspense to promote the plot, and the focus of the second half was undoubtedly on the bond between mother and son.

Using suspenseful expressions to gradually reveal the tragedy behind it to the audience, with the warm soundtrack and the interaction between mother and son, the rhythm is slowed down and the tragic effect is strengthened.

"You must cherish the carefree childhood, the world will be completely different when you grow up." Director Lenny Abrahamson tries to tell this fascinating story from a perspective completely alien to the world. This perspective comes from the eyes of a five-year-old who has never seen the colorful world before us. He would say hello to items in the "room," and he also believed that the sky was only as big as the window above him. When he finally escaped the "room" and woke up in the hospital, when the camera was aimed at the smooth floor that Jack had never seen before, when he carefully took the first step on this strange floor, It is easy for the audience to feel the unfamiliar and fearful feeling brought by the unknown for a long time while crying and sighing in their hearts. This is the feeling of seeing the world for the first time.

Personally, I think the filming can end when the child leaves the house, lying in the car and looking at the sky.

Room quotes

  • Old Nick: What's that smell?

Ma: Sorry, I burned some cheese. Here. I just wasn't thinking.

Old Nick: Well, thinking is not your strong suit.

  • Ma: [about the mouse] He's on the other side of this wall.

    Jack: What other side?

Ma: Jack, there's two sides to everything.

    Jack: Not on an octagon.

    Ma: Yeah, but...

Jack: [Interrupts] An octagon has eight sides

Ma: But a wall, okay, a wall's like this, see? And we're on the inside and mouse is on the outside.

    Jack: In outer space?

Ma: No, in the world. It's much closer than outer space.

    Jack: I can't see the outside-side.

Ma: Listen, I know that I told you something else before, but you were much younger. I didn't think that you could understand, but now you're so old, you're so smart. I know that you can get this. Where do you think that old Nick gets our food?

    Jack: From TV by magic!
