Anticlimactic, what a pity

Great story, I decided to give it five stars after seeing a quarter of it, no doubt about it. I always thought that the story was adapted from the Cleveland kidnapping case, but I didn't expect it to be the original book, which was inspired by an earlier Austrian case. But the details are really too synchronized with the Cleveland kidnapping case...

Under this theme, it is rare, and it does not exaggerate sadness at all. Seeing this cruel world from a child's point of view is like a fairy tale of great adventure. Hatred and resentment are normal, but not being blinded by the dark past requires greater courage and courage.

I really despise anything that uses tear gas as a propaganda point other than riot gas. Although I often shed tears watching movies and TV shows, I will never give them to those poor, tragic weaklings who may be worthy of sympathy. Otherwise, how can we show respect to the worthy of admiration? Cheap touching is boring and dull like saline... It's just a miserable life, everyone can be miserable. Unfortunate, poor and weak have no threshold. The warriors and heroes of life are not just what anyone is qualified to do.

The first half of the film was very, very good, almost perfect in every aspect: the rhythm was rhythmic and the atmosphere was relaxed; it was very difficult to make a good film to observe the terrifying reality from the ignorant perspective of children long forgotten by adults. The delicate balance of fantasy needs to be carefully grasped. The director presented it so well that one couldn't take his eyes off it at all.

The disadvantage is in the second half of the movie, mainly the last half hour, because it is completely eager to finish the movie quickly. There are too many cuts, the progress is too fast, and many plots are abrupt and inexplicable. With such a complex and chaotic character, so many details and materials that can be mined, the essence and highlights of the movie should all be in the second half! I'm really looking forward to and very interested in the second half of my mental journey! It turned out to be an anticlimactic...no wonder it didn't win the Oscar for Best Picture.

I heard that the movie deleted a character from the original book, and that character had a lot of boosting scenes in the second half. Probably the reason for the imbalance between the front and rear of the movie is here. In fact, such a good film, what is two hours, I will watch it for three or four hours, but it is more leisurely to shoot slowly!

In addition, the aspect ratio of this film is really large. I always feel that it is rare for ordinary plot-oriented films to use this aspect ratio... It seems that crime, action, sci-fi and fantasy prefer this wide aspect ratio, I don't know if it is Not that I am uncommon.

Room quotes

  • Old Nick: What's that smell?

Ma: Sorry, I burned some cheese. Here. I just wasn't thinking.

Old Nick: Well, thinking is not your strong suit.

  • Ma: [about the mouse] He's on the other side of this wall.

    Jack: What other side?

Ma: Jack, there's two sides to everything.

    Jack: Not on an octagon.

    Ma: Yeah, but...

Jack: [Interrupts] An octagon has eight sides

Ma: But a wall, okay, a wall's like this, see? And we're on the inside and mouse is on the outside.

    Jack: In outer space?

Ma: No, in the world. It's much closer than outer space.

    Jack: I can't see the outside-side.

Ma: Listen, I know that I told you something else before, but you were much younger. I didn't think that you could understand, but now you're so old, you're so smart. I know that you can get this. Where do you think that old Nick gets our food?

    Jack: From TV by magic!
