A world without end, endless cognition

This is not strictly a review of the movie "Room". The film is rather tragic, and even this bright day doesn't warm the pain caused by Jack and Joe's tragic encounters. So I chose another angle that touched me to ease this sentimentality.

When walls get shorter and buckets get smaller, it's not that what we see gets smaller, but our world gets bigger.

In "Room", the room where Jack says he lived for seven years is so big that every wall can't go to the end. The shack is his world, mom, bed, TV, sink, toilet, wardrobe, table, chair, that's all he has. Before escaping the room, the leaves are always green, everyone else is fake, imagine a dog named "lucky"...

He finally sees the outside world, tries to jump out of the car, his world blurs. Have you ever felt dizzy? At that time, the world was shaking. Before your vision became clear, everything was blurry and tiny. As your consciousness became clear and your vision became clear, the surrounding things slowly grew larger until they became normal.

I still clearly remember that when I came home on the weekend after middle school and saw the fence of the elementary school again, there was a voice in my heart telling myself: will the fence become shorter by itself? It's high. Six or seven years have been spent there. There are no other buildings in the distance from the village to the school, and there are farmlands on both sides of the road.

The same is true of my water bucket. Follow my parents to fetch water from the public well in the village, use a pole to hoist the bucket into the well, skillfully swing the bucket floating on the water, and fill more and more water in the bucket until it is full. When I grew up and had the opportunity to carry water myself, I realized that the bucket was so big and sinking. That's the little bit of water at the bottom of the bucket every time, and it's hard to pick it back. If it is bigger, there will be more water in the bucket, and you can go home with a pole. During this process, you will find that the wellhead and the bucket are shrinking, and they are not as heavy as you remember when they are full of water.

Every day we walk the same road, see the same things, experience the same things, and nothing changes. As I get older, I try to go out, only to find that the environment has changed, the world is not like this.

It is our world that changes with growth and the environment. The material world has lost its old face, and the world of consciousness has undergone earth-shaking innovations.

Limited by the environment and cognition, we see a part of things, a part of the world. Being inland, with inconvenient transportation and lack of information, I know very little about tropical fruits and seafood. On TV, on the Internet, or in other places, naturally, I have a new understanding of the unexpected world around me.

As you age, your horizons widen. This is a change in the breadth of the cognitive world. The more experience and accumulation, the qualitative change in the depth of cognition of the world.

In the past, our education about Japan came from textbooks, but isn't there a change in our self-understanding now? Hour's eyes are pure and simple, and after some experience, they gradually increase the depth and insight. There is a lack of information and a single channel. Peter Liang's referee is a manifestation of discrimination against Chinese people. We have more restoration and analysis of incidents. Are we still stubborn and cannot judge from the incident of shooting (manslaughter) black people.

We have all experienced or are experiencing narrow vision, limited awareness, and one-sided perspectives that may never be eliminated. Then try to expand your horizons and change your world.

A world without end, endless cognition.

Room quotes

  • Ma: I'm sorry Jack.

Jack: It's okay. Don't do it again.

    Ma: I promise

    Jack: Are you better now?

Ma: Yeah, I'm starting to be. Hey, Jack?

    Jack: Yeah?

Ma: When Grandma brought this to me

[Shows Jack the trimmings of his hair]

Ma: I knew that I could get better. You saved me... Again.

  • Jack: Eggsnake's our longest friend and fanciest. Meltedy spoon's the best to eat with because he's more blobbier. Labyrinth is the twistiest and she hides things so I don't know where they are. Toilet's the best at disappearing poo. Lamp's the brightest, except when the power's cut. You're the best at reading and songs and lots, except if you're having a gone day. I'm the best at drawing, and jumping, and growing, and nearly everything!
