I need to vent because I'm not happy that it won in the end

When I first learned about this film, whether it was from the name or the poster, I was somewhat looking forward to it. I took a look at the trailer. It's similar to an adult fairy tale of a mermaid princess. Well, the theme is also my dish.
Found the resource and got a glimpse... quite disappointed. Also said that only loneliness can save loneliness or something, just this story, sorry, I'm really finished! Complete! Look! Do not! out! Come! ! ! "Blade Runner 2049" is full of loneliness and tears. That look, that atmosphere, that picture, that color, is called loneliness. This is not a simple shot of a few buses, the shot of sign language is enough. If you insist on being lonely at this level, won't your conscience hurt?
And then the love story, sorry, I really can't feel it either. The little fish man was simply ignorant and forcibly tricked into bed by the heroine, okay? Tell me it's love when I'm blind? Look at the "Phantom Thread" next door, although it is a very human twisted love story, but you look at the corners of the male and female protagonists' brows, you look at the magnetic field, the holding hands, the touching, that is called love.
The heroine's characterization really disgusts me. The pattern of daily life, which I accept, most days of most people are repetitive, monotonous, and boring. Can resonate. Since X's play... what the hell, what do you want to express? In addition to the seduction scene after the rescue of the murlocs, it makes people feel that the heroine is not lacking in love, but just lacking in sex life. Finally, in the part of saving the murloc, it reflects the kindness of the heroine, but she is so strong to ask others to help, and what the hell is the scene of complacently mocking the villain after being rescued, it is simply smearing. It doesn't mean that it has to be positive, but the protagonist in such a story should have all the details added up, which makes it difficult to say whether it is good or bad. The bad points about her can be understood by combining the details, but whether they can be considerate or not. It's left to vary from person to person. It's not like this movie, the malicious and disgusting performance of the bad guy is obviously the setting of the good guy, but he doesn't express it well at all.
After watching it, I found out that it was the director of "Pan's Labyrinth", and "Pan" was very unacceptable. I'm still looking forward to this film, because I didn't do my homework well in the early days. I originally wanted to give it one star, but after thinking about it, the degree of nausea has improved compared to "Pan". Maybe I can look forward to it in the future, so I gave it two stars.
Although "Three Billboards", "Washington Post", "Dunkirk" and "Darkest Hour" have not been watched, the evaluation is not objective, but as far as the story itself is concerned, the Golden Man awarded the I don't think it deserves it. Oscar, who always focuses on positive stories, really disappointed me to award the award to such a radical and barren story. Do not spit too fast! ! !

The horror sci-fi and bloody, rich colors are comparable to "Far From Heaven", the background music is so dense that people can't breathe, the style is very Hollywood, and it pays tribute all day long.

More like a fairy tale, a poem, a prose... "I can't feel your shape, you surround me, your presence fills my eyes with your love, and makes my heart soft, because you are everywhere" Michael Shannon is the Lord!

The Shape of Water quotes

  • Hoffstetler: He's bleeding. What happened?

Strickland: It's an animal, Hoffstetler. Just keepin' it tame.

  • Strickland: [to Zelda and Elisa] Let me say this up front: You clean that lab, you get out. The thing we keep in there is an affront. Do you know what an affront is, Zelda?

    Zelda: Something offensive?

Strickland: That's right. And I should know, I dragged that... filthy thing... out of the river muck in South America all the way here. And along the way we didn't get to like each other much. Now. You may think, "That thing looks human." Stands on two legs, right? But - we're created in the Lord's image. You don't think that's what the Lord looks like, do you?
