a little disappointed

I just watched the famous Platoon, and I felt a little disappointed. It was not as good as I imagined. As the saying goes, "The greater the expectations, the greater the disappointment."
This conclusion is compared with another master Kubrick's Vietnam War masterpiece Full Metal Jacket. Full Metal Jacket has distinctive features, which directly reflect the destruction of human nature by war. And I feel that Oliver Stone wants to express a lot of things, including the cruelty of war, the madness of war, and the reshaping of human nature by war, but the uniform force leads to no strength in any aspect and cannot shock the audience. In general, it is still A little thinner. So it's no surprise that it's Full Metal Jacket, not Platoon, that has been hailed as "the best Vietnam war movie ever made."
Another famous film about the Vietnam War is Apocalypse Now, but I haven't seen it yet. This film is said to have caused the great director Coppola to lose all his money, but as time goes by, more and more film critics applaud it, hoping to see it as soon as possible.

"It's just because we can't face ourselves truly-the real enemy comes from the ugliness inside us." This is not a good story, but a real history.

"Why are people like Barnes always giving orders?" "The war is actually fighting himself." Stone is good at portraying extreme violence and integrating into the political critical consciousness of the American left. The massacre and the ending battle are truly tragic. The disappointment of the idealists. But for similar themes, there are two mountains in front of Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" and Kubrick's "Full Metal Shell".

Platoon quotes

  • [During the interrogation of a village chief after the platoon finds hidden weapons]

Pvt. Gator Lerner: Says they had no choice. Says the NVA killed the old honcho when he said no. Now he says all the rice is theirs.

    Sgt. Barnes: Oh, bullshit, Lerner.

  • [Manny has been killed and the platoon is looking for revenge]

Chris Taylor: The village, which had stood for maybe 1,000 years, didn't know we were coming that day. If they had, they would have run. Barnes was at the eye of our rage. And through him, our Captain Ahab. He would set things right again. That day, we loved him.
