Instructor Wen teaches you to make suspense movies

After watching "The Chainsaw", I recalled those domestic thrillers I watched a few days ago, and I couldn't help feeling a lot.

Many people have praised the clever plot setting of "Chainsaw", but honestly, the storyline is not very complicated. Like many domestic thrillers, the whole film is supported by a small amount of creativity. But the outstanding part of this film lies in the skillful narrative method, which constantly enriches the plot with the extension of the core story, making it more in-depth. In this way, for a 102-minute long story, nearly half of the time is spent in recollection. After gradually completing the background of the characters, there is a big reversal at the end, which shocked the audience's jaws.

On the other hand, when looking at the domestically produced films that were astonishing, in fact, the plots are not without creativity. But what we see is often a suspenseful little story in a story-telling style, which is stretched to an hour and a half by the inexplicable atmosphere, and it becomes a movie. Neither the director nor the screenwriter ever wanted to flesh out the characters and backgrounds to make the whole story three-dimensional. What they were thinking, I guess it's either how to pass stupid censorship or how to scare the audience to death with a surprise.

Back to Wen Ziren. This "Chainsaw" is his famous work, which has a great influence on his future style. In his later works, the last-minute plot reversal technique is often used, but the works that tell the story so well have never appeared again.
