By about the third season, the main storyline began to exert force, the confrontation between the winchester family and the devil, their family affection, and constant self-sacrifice and exchange. Then the father dies, the fraternity and the growth of the brother become the first clue, and they realize that sacrificing oneself to make a deal with the devil is not the end, it is to fight and resist.
The story also gradually turned into a war between God and Satan, and the human beings represented by the two brothers seemed to be just pawns in the war, but they did not simply "jump into the righteous camp", but stuck to their own position and adhered to the survival of mankind. The younger brother was seduced by the devil, but finally came back, and the older brother went from being overly caring to being respectful and supportive. Both brothers have grown up and their bond has deepened.
What I like most is that the angel first lured Dean, and then threatened Dean with his own health and Sam's life to hand over his body as Gabriel's container, but was finally rejected by Dean. Independence and freedom are the values of survival, and "sacrifice the ego for justice" may be just a variant of evil.
The series is quite "deep" and grand, but the style is not gloomy in general. There are many interesting characters and unit episodes that make people feel relaxed and feel the fun of the screenwriter. For example, all the episodes where the demigods appear, the lucky bunny legs episode, the pseudo-vampire episode that pays homage to black and white horror movies, the Blair the Witch-style live-action episode, the prophetic episode, hey, really, so much fun.
The finale of the five seasons was originally planned, and it is currently being broadcast, but the ratings are very good. It is said that there may be a sixth season, which can be watched more, but will it lead to procrastination? Confused, biting your fingers...
