Glory of the Samurai

"We built railways, introduced cannons, and wore Western-style clothes, but we can't forget our identity and our roots." The spirit of the samurai and the glory of the samurai will be a lifetime belief.
We were brought up to be atheists and apostates, and the lack of faith made us a group of political fanatics who claimed to believe in science. The film "The Last Samurai" shows us the belief of the samurai, a group of true warriors who adhere to the spirit of Bushido.
The killing scene at the end of the film is shocking. They fight for honor, for self-esteem, and for the people of Japan, even if they are doomed to fail in the end.
We Chinese people often laugh at the Japanese if they fail and commit suicide by caesarean section, and laugh at them for lacking the courage to start over. At the end of the day, Katsumoto still did not forget to pick up his sword and stab him in the chest. This scene could not help but win the respect of the enemy, and let us see the greater courage and strength behind this move. Strength, even if you choose to sacrifice for that goal in your heart is an honor.

The Last Samurai quotes

  • Algren: [Narrating] I have been hired to suppress the rebellion of yet another tribal leader. Apparently, this is the only job for which I am suited. I am beset by the ironies of my life.

  • Colonel Bagley: Just tell me one thing, what is it about your own people you hate so much?
