This movie was made in 1941. At that time, the movies were also some silent movies like those directed by Chaplin, but Chaplin prevailed with his actions and expressions. I think this movie was dominated by the lens. It was also a black and white movie. The film and Akira Kurosawa's film have a lot in common. Although they are separated by decades, some scenes still feel very similar. For example, some shots can highlight someone's strength, and a close-up of a person in the dark can highlight that person's characteristics. In short, I think that a good actor is a carrier, and a good director is the pearl on the carrier. When both are present, the film will naturally become better. There is one type of film that wins with the story, and another type of film that wins with the camera. Both films have their own advantages, the story is memorable, the shots are shocking, and a truly good film is always a balance.

It's better to watch this kind of retrograde old film than to watch the script directly. Every shot is not handled well, there is no aesthetic feeling, and even shakes! At least the form of literature has remained unchanged for hundreds of years. The portrayal of characters in movies is far inferior to novels. The latter can give people more room for imagination.
