Animation to create a classic - "Rick and Morty Season 1"

Today, let's talk about the American drama "Rick and Morty Season 1".

The title is Rick and Morty Season 1 (2013).

In 2009, there was a very interesting American drama "Community" which was launched. This drama has a slightly higher threshold for watching movies and is full of cult temperament. It quickly gained a group of regular fans of its own.

In 2013, Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, the choreographers and directors of "The Crap League", created a new animated drama "Rick and Morty" with the same cult temperament. Familiar viewers can see the similarities between the two at a glance.

After being transformed into an animation form, "Rick and Morty" can allow the writers and directors to fully unleash their imaginations. Various bizarre and imaginative pictures and ideas emerge in an endless stream, and our audience can also appreciate the creator's super-brain hole.

"Rick and Morty" also cultivated a crowd, and everyone regarded it as a gem. The good news is that after changing to an animated form, the play's aggression is weakened, and the score is higher than that of "The Alliance of Waste Wood".

"Rick and Morty" takes the form of a unit drama, each episode tells a small story.

Rick, a talented scientist, suddenly returns to live with his daughter, Beth Smith, after years of disappearing.

In this way, the resident population of the Bess family has become five people, namely Rick, Bess, son-in-law Jerry Smith, granddaughter Summer Smith and grandson Morty Smith.

Justin Rowland also voiced Rick and Morty, respectively.

Rick tinkers with a spaceship and a portal gun in the garage, pulling Morty through the universe on an adventure.

It's more about getting into trouble everywhere than an adventure, every time Rick and Morty poked all sorts of hoops, and the adventure turned into a butt-busting remedial journey. Beth and Jerry have long been dissatisfied with Rick's crazy behavior, but every time there is nothing they can do. Late Summer doesn't like their reckless behavior, and envy Morty for being able to take part in the adventure.

"Rick and Morty" was booked for 70 episodes in one go. According to the volume of about 10 episodes per season, this is equivalent to booking 7 seasons at once.

If it keeps running, the show will likely exceed 10 seasons.

Justin Rowland and Dan Harmon previously stated that they had conceived a very interesting backstory for Rick, but they would keep it a secret first, otherwise there would be too many spoilers to make the movie less fun. But what they admit is that Rick has a very dark secret, and one fan has already guessed it on the forum.

According to the plot revealed in the first season, we can focus on the following four kinds of speculation:

1. Rick realizes he is a fictional character;

2. Rick has been drinking not alcohol, but a drink that has side effects that keep him super-intelligent;

3. Rick is actually an old Morty, Morty travels to the past;

4. The original Morty around Rick has died, and the current Morty is his replacement from another universe.

There are many Easter eggs in "Rick and Morty", pick a few to talk about.

Morty is generally considered to be based on Marty from Back to the Future (1985).

The play's theme song imitates "Doctor Who" (Doctor Who, 2005) and "Farscape" (1999).

When the characters are confused or stunned, their lips fall into their faces.

It's a tribute to "The Ren and Stimpy Show" (1991), where Ryan does just that.

Except in Season 1, Episode 3, the clock in Rick's Garage Lab is always two o'clock.

On a shelf in Rick's garage workshop, there's a box that says "Time Travel Stuff". But Justin Rowland stated that there will be no time travel in the show, only multi-dimensional and space travel.

Pick a few Easter eggs worth noting in each episode below.

S1E1

As Rick and Morty line up in the alien waiting room, they are confronted by Ferenghi from Star Trek.

There are also Alien from Alien (1979) and Big Bird from Sesame Street (1969).

Rick takes Morty to find Mega seeds and uses them to make a magical drink. Seeds briefly increased Morty's intelligence, but also had serious after-effects.

You can note that Rick drools only when he drinks drinks/wine.

The second article of Rick's dark insider mentioned above is based on this setting.

S1E2

Snuffles calls itself "Snowball," a tribute to the revolutionary "Snowball" from George Orwell's Animal Farm.

Scary Terry's dream teacher is based on Gerald Scarfe's drawing for Professor Pink Floyd's The Wall.

Terrible Terry is modeled after Freddy Krueger, the villain of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).

Rick said it was "a legal knockoff," a swipe at the original Rick and Morty comics. The comic originally imitated the Doctor and Martin in "Back to the Future", but in order to avoid copyright issues, changes were made after changes.

S1E3

This is the first time the series has a vacation theme.

This episode imitates Jurassic Park, and also imitates Disney Park's Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Tiny World, Fantasy Engineer, Costume Worker, and more.

Dr. Bloom imitated Chaplin's cane, beard, hairstyle and eyebrows.

S1E4

Around 15 minutes into the episode, Rick, Morty, and Jerry run past several Plutonians.

The Plutonians will be featured in Season 1, Episode 9.

The alien name Zigerian refers to the notorious Nigerian Prince scam mail.

Zaragna's hatred of nudity is a tribute to the American TV series Arrested Development (2003).

The formula for concentrated dark matter contains cesium and water. Cesium is an alkali metal that reacts violently with water to explode, which is also a chemical stalk.

S1E5

Mr. Meeseeks is a reference to the genie of Aladdin's lamp.

Like Aladdin's magic lamp wizard, Mr. Mission Bid is also blue. He is trapped in some kind of container, and after being released, he can fulfill a person's wish.

The episode's title, "Meseeks and Destroy," is a nod to the military term "seek and destroy," as well as to Metallica's 1983 song "Seek and Destroy."

S1E6

This episode is a tribute to Canadian director David Cronenberg. Kronberg is the originator of the body mutation genre horror film. Victims of physical mutations are also known as "Cronenbergs".

So this episode is made into a body infection mutation style.

In this episode, Rick and Morty escape their mutant universe to replace each other with another universe where they died.

It can be seen that Rick is accustomed to this, and the fourth item of Rick's dark insider mentioned above is based on this setting.

S1E7

Late Summer's line "If you think my top is cute, you can not execute" (If you think my top is cute, you can not execute) is a quote from OJ Simpson's wife murder trial: "If it doesn't fit, you You must be acquitted." (If it doesn't fit, you must acquit).

The hovering headship in this episode is a tribute to Zardoz (1974).

S1E8

The episode title "Rixty Minutes" refers to the American news program "60 Minutes".

The show is "the oldest and most popular news magazine on television" and has aired since 1968.

While Rick and Morty watch TV shows from other universes, every show on TV is created ad hoc.

S1E9

The episode title "Something Ricked This Way Comes" is a parody of Ray Bradbury's novel "Something Wicked This Way Comes."

The plot of this episode is based on Stephen King's "Needful Things" (1991). A "mysterious" person written in the novel suddenly opened a "necessities store" in a small town, claiming that anyone can find what they want in it, and the price is within the range that people can afford. But the murders happened one after another, and people realized that the store was selling terrible things.

When Rick did not want to continue to remove the curse, his last customer said: "I'm here to pick up my undead child and cat." ("I'm here to pick up my undead child and cat.)

This is a tribute to another Stephen King novel, Pet Sematary.

The demon archetype in this episode is taken from Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nominee Alfred Molina.

Scenes from this episode also appear in the background of the conversation between Batman and The Flash in the movie Justice League.

S1E10

Cowboy versions of Rick and Morty appear in this episode, and the depreciation matches that of the Doctor and Martin in Back to the Future Part III (1990).

The logo in the council chamber is similar to that of Batman Robin.

This episode is also evidence of Rick's Dark Insider #4 above.

S1E11

From the beginning of this episode, there is a crack in the driveway pavement that runs through the screen.

This is the boundary where the house is dug up and sent to other universes. Rick, Morty and Late Summer freeze time, clean and fix the house, but they don't care about the gap.

Rick and Morty quotes

  • Alien Werner Herzog: I have dwelt amongst the Humans. Their entire Culture revolves around their penises.

  • Voice Over: Today, on How they Do it: Plumbuses. First, they take the Dinglebop and they smooth it out with a bunch of shleem. The Shleem is then repurposed for later batches. They take the Dinglebop and they push it through the Grumbo. Where the Fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the Fleeb is rubbed because the Fleeb has all of the Fleeb juice. Then a Schlamie shows up and he rubs it and spits on it. They cut the Fleeb, there are several hizzards in the way. The Blamphs rub against the Chumbles. And the Plubis and Grumbo are shaved away. That leaves you with a regular old Plumbus.

Rick: I always wondered how Plumbuses got made.
