I don't know why I want to write about the movie I watched 12 years ago, I just want to write about it. So many years have passed, and the beauties in the film have long since forgotten, but Tom's confusion and helplessness when he was stuck at the airport because of his invalid passport was still impressive. It used to bring me deep fear. Every time I go back to China, I am very worried about losing my passport and being left at the airport, and the long and hopeless waiting that follows. It is also this movie that made me deeply understand that although we do not like to wait, we spend most of our time waiting every day. Going to work on the subway is to wait for the station to go to work, we go to bed every night to wait for waking up the next day, to accompany the child to do homework every day is to wait for him to finish his homework, and then wait for him to grow up every day. Life is waiting all the time, what we have to do is how to live a wonderful life in the long and boring waiting time.

The anxiety of losing my identity that I had in The Terminal was redeemed in The Man Without a Past. It turns out that even if you lose your identity, as long as you live, you can start anew, maybe a completely different life, maybe a better life!

The Terminal quotes

  • Frank Dixon: Do you know, one of my own men came up to me the other day, asked me if I wanted to join the big pool. Look at 'em, look at 'em, look at 'em. Place a bet on when Navorski was gonna leave this airport. Have you heard about this?

Thurman: [nodding] I have January 3rd.

  • Amelia: I just keep injesting these poisonous men until I make myself sick.

Viktor Navorski: You're not sick, Amelia, no. You're a little far-sighted.
