A movie about promises, but the details end up being lacklustre

Because of "Ready Player One", I revisited several previous films of the old Spielberg. This movie is not bad, my mother likes it anyway.

I rated Samsung, the last few paragraphs are a bit offensive, if you can't accept it, please bypass it.

Let's talk about the advantages first.

1. About the subject of the article:

First, this is a movie about commitment.

Tom Hanks played a particularly good role in the film, depicting a middle-aged old man who went to the United States from his hometown and encountered various embarrassments vividly and without any sense of disobedience.

Before I saw that tin, I never thought it was anything special, until he wanted the hostess to reveal that it was a promise he made to his late father, and found a member of the jazz band to get his autograph .

Second, this is a film about morality.

The outline of the story is roughly described, anyway, it has been staged for more than ten years.

The day Tom Hanks arrived in the United States, his homeland was overthrown by rebels, so he became stateless. According to U.S. law, he could not enter the U.S. border, so the head of the airport told him to stay at the airport.

But the head of the airport, who was about to ascend, didn't want to have such a mine-like figure in his jurisdiction, so he tried his best to let Tom enter illegally on purpose.

But Tom is reluctant to do so, he has his own moral pursuits. He would rather stay at the airport than enter illegally and shame his family and his country (I guess).

Later, the head of the airport thought of another way. If someone wants to escape from their own country, they can apply for international asylum.

But when he asked Tom if he didn't want to go back to his home country, the answer was NO.

"Why?" he asked. "Your country is full of wars and food is in short supply. Why do you want to go back?"

"Because that's my home."

No matter what the identity, Tom Hanks' noble moral sense is not lost at all, which is the second point of the movie.

Third, this is a movie about kindness.

There is a small climax in the movie when a Russian is detained for buying medicine for his father. The head of the airport is not friendly, but Tom helped him through the difficulties with his wisdom and kindness. The Russians are grateful.

His kindness and integrity also touched the people in the airport. The cleaners, food delivery staff, and salespeople all regarded him as an idol, and his handprints were hung everywhere.

He was not accepted from the beginning, and everyone wanted to be friends with him because of the charm of his own personality.

Especially the old Indian grandpa, who was very rude to him at first, even hateful, but in the end he would rather use his thin and frail body and the risk of being forced to deport to help him stop the plane to Nigeria.

This is a kind person who will be treated kindly by others.

2. About plot and scene settings:

The most special thing about this movie is the setting of the scene.

The plot is basically in the airport, Tom Hanks and the airport boss have a very interesting contest.

Because he stayed at the airport, he couldn't use the currency of his own country. In order to make a living (have something to eat), he tried his best.

The first way is to push the airport cart. All airport carts in the United States need coins to borrow, and the coins will pop up when they are returned, so he made a lot of money with this. So there is a solid meal.

But the head of the airport discovered this immediately, and he immediately set up a new position, making it impossible for him to continue to make a living.

But the second opportunity came right away. The delivery boy fell in love with the girl who was in charge of the visa check at the airport, so he told Tom that if he helped him to explore the information, he would provide his meal for free.

So he can have a full stomach, but no money.

At this moment, Catherine Jones, the goddess he liked, began to contact him and offered to invite him to dinner. Due to the lack of money, Tom refused.

When a dazed Tom saw a mottled airport wall, he couldn't help but start sanding, painting, and finishing one wall in one night.

The next day, when the renovation boss saw all this, he dug him into his renovation team and paid him $19 an hour. (Wow, more than airport bosses)

The airport has become a place where he can play to the fullest, from the waiting hall, to the boarding gate, to the baggage check, to the airport office area. This movie, in a small scene, shows people interesting and unexpected scene after scene.

These get a total of three stars.

Then I talked about what I felt was a bit inconsistent.

First, there is a deep relationship between the male and female protagonists.

The heroine's love for the scumbag supporting role and the hero's love are hidden too deep, and in the end many people said they couldn't understand it.

Towards the end, the male protagonist and the female protagonist met outside the airport. The female protagonist glanced at the male protagonist and then stepped into the waiting hall.

Reasoning with my not-so-smart little brain.

tags: Napoleon

Scenario 1: Candlelight dinner, the heroine and the hero threw the pager. The heroine said that she and Napoleon have a little similarity, that is, they are not immune to poisonous men.

This may be one reason why she can't shake off her emotions.

Scenario 2: The male protagonist prepared a gift for the female protagonist, saying that it was the 1,000 fountains that Napoleon gave to Queen Josephine.

Then, the heroine received another letter from the scumbag and left.

Scenario three, the male and female protagonists meet, look at each other and smile, but there is no after.

Well, I think this series of plots is to reflect that the heroine and Queen Josephine are very similar, beautiful but passionate. When Napoleon went out to fight in the North and South, she couldn't bear the loneliness and had an affair with others.

Therefore, the male and female protagonists eventually parted ways.

Second, the unclear "above".

In one episode, "above" sent someone to check the airport boss's job to see if he was qualified to move up.

At this time, the scene of Russia illegally taking medicine (the medicine was bought by him in Canada to treat his father's illness) happened. The airport boss couldn't ask Tom to translate and deal with this matter. In the end, Tom lied to him and said it was "Goat" medicine.

Under U.S. law, medicines given to animals do not require certification, so the medicines are eventually returned.

At this time, the person "above" said to the head of the airport: "Be sympathetic to people. This is the foundation on which the country is built."

Then, there is no then.

The head of the airport is still moving high. When Tom was let go by all the airport staff, including the guards, although he chased him out, he didn't explain what happened next.

Then, after getting the autograph, the story came to an abrupt end.

I don't think this is clear.

If there's nothing "up there", let him come out and do it. There is no echo behind, this plot always feels cumbersome to put here.

A movie, saying nothing is not good, saying nothing is not good.

I don't think it's that good if you hide it so deeply that you have to guess, or set up a plot in a pretentious way.

So I deducted two stars in the end.

This movie should not be Spielberg's excellent work, at best it's mediocre.

The Terminal quotes

  • Frank Dixon: Do you know, one of my own men came up to me the other day, asked me if I wanted to join the big pool. Look at 'em, look at 'em, look at 'em. Place a bet on when Navorski was gonna leave this airport. Have you heard about this?

Thurman: [nodding] I have January 3rd.

  • Amelia: I just keep injesting these poisonous men until I make myself sick.

Viktor Navorski: You're not sick, Amelia, no. You're a little far-sighted.
