remember me

It's been a long time since I wrote a movie essay. I wanted to write an essay every time I watched a movie before, but as a sufferer of severe procrastination, I often let it go. This time, I plan to write while it’s hot, one is to resist my own procrastination, and the other is to think that Alzheimer’s disease can be prevented to some extent (self-laughing).

CoCo

The Chinese translation here is a variant of "XX General Mobilization" as always, although from the perspective of domestic publishers, I quite understand this approach. The movie directly uses the name of the person, and it is not the name of the protagonist at the beginning. There must be something strange. And combined with the following, it is actually very beautiful. This Chinese translation directly destroys this beauty.

rememberme

If you are careful, it is not difficult to find that there is an unwritten rule in the music animation produced by Disney. The first solo song at the beginning is usually the subtitle of the movie. such as recent works.

"Tangled"—When will my life begin? ("Rapunzel" and first solo)

"Frozen" — Do you want to build a snowman? ("Frozen" and first solo)

"Zootopia" — Try everything ("Zootopia" and first solo)

The movie name and the song name are replaced by commas, which can be completely understood as one sentence. This sentence is at the heart of the entire film.

This film is no exception, only this time more direct.

《CoCo》—Remember me CoCo, remember me.

When the movie is over, I look back at it and I can't help but smile.

The song "Remember me" appears three times in the film, in the opening concert version of Delacus, the lullaby version sung by Hector to CoCo, and the version in which Miguel awakens CoCo's memory at the end. The first version of the concert was open to the public and finally Dracus was killed by the big clock, and the other two versions ended up interacting with Coco.

just for you

"Remember me" is a song with a very simple melody that can be played as long as you have learned a little about the guitar. But often the simpler the melody, the more memorable it will accompany the memory. This song was played and sung to CoCo by Hector and CoCo before they parted. In his heart, this song has only one listener, and that is his daughter. I can't help feeling that the best gift in this world is to write a song or write a poem to give to the other party to express their unique feelings.

There is a very interesting plot. In the film, MiG participated in the talent competition for the first time. Hector asked him what he wanted to sing, and MiG answered without hesitation that he wanted to sing "Remember me". Hector cleverly used the song too popular to dissuade him, and replaced it with another song called "God of Songs". I think this reason is not tenable, because all the songs of "God of Songs" are very popular. Obviously, Hector doesn't want this song to be sung in public here. This song was not written for the audience at all, just for CoCo, for my own daughter, the love it contains is just to convey to you. Even if everyone in this world forgets me, I just hope you can remember me.

I really feel very sad for Hector here. Every day I listen to the so-called "God of Songs" sing this song he doesn't want other people to listen to. It's really painful in my heart.

father and daughter

Many high praise comments online believe that the song contains the reconciliation of the daughter and the father. Personally, I think it is nonsense, because there is no so-called "reconciliation" at all. CoCo always thinks about his father and loves his father. Apparently CoCo knew that his father had passed away. It can be inferred from the notebook that CoCo took out the photo at the end. The notebook is the same as the one that Hector put in the box when he planned to go home. The conscientious thing to do is to send the relics back). When CoCo knew that his father passed away, he still kept the photo, and kept the memory of his father, so that when he was about to die, he saw the guitar and said the word "Dad".

I just hope you remember me

In the film, Delacus holds a concert of the dead every year, why doesn't he go back to see his family. Because I remember that all the fans who worship him are fans, and he never has his own family. The irony is that most of the people who came to the concert were socialites like Delacus, and Frieda was spoofed in the movie.

In fact, the wish of ordinary people is to be remembered by their loved ones after death.

affection

I saw a short comment on the Internet "The opposite of love is not hate, but forgetting", and I think the summary is very good. This is why the movie focuses on family affection and family to express this feeling. Only the warmth of that kind of family will never be forgotten.

I wrote it a long time ago, now I'm posting it...

  • Ernesto de la Cruz: [after Héctor is taken away by security for attacking Ernesto after learning the truth about his death] I apologize, where were we?

Ernesto de la Cruz: Yes, uh, si. Miguel, my reputation it is, ah, very important to me. I would hate to have you think...

Miguel: That you murdered Héctor, for his songs?

Ernesto de la Cruz: Ha ha. You don't think that, do you?
