In the whole process of watching the movie, the feeling of depression is inevitable. Full of death, hatred, discrimination, misunderstanding, indifference... This is the South of the United States, the world today. It is also our real life.
Just like those small, humble and simple things in life, they are often the deepest memories after many years. That power comes from reality. Others are hell, and people still stay in this forest. But Lysia and Hank got their salvation.
I like the development of the whole plot. I also like to see some hope and comfort in the film. Lycia said to Hank in pain, "I need you"; Hank excitedly said to her father, "I bought a gas station, and now it is ours"; Lycia and Hank are sitting on the porch Before eating ice cream, he said to her "we will get better"...
I like to think that this is a movie about love.
