Dead Poets Society is undoubtedly such a masterpiece. When I saw this movie, my first reaction was to see you late. I was not fortunate enough to meet Keating, a passionate, romantic rebellious, perfect personality, flamboyant temperament, love of literature and life, and inspiring young people to develop their individuality, like Neil and Todd in the best youth, but " "Self" has also been obscured in a murky life, and the youthful vigor that should have been publicized has been dormant for a long time.
It was a time when ideals indicated the way forward, a time when poetry led the way of the soul. Oh what an exciting time!
"Pick your flower buds in time, the
old days will never come back.
The flowers that are smiling today
will wither in the wind tomorrow."
Neil in the film is a handsome, enthusiastic and cheerful student with excellent academic performance . This image is the shaping of typical beauty. Neil was the first to respond to Mr. Keating's call to rebuild the Dead Poets Club; he tried every means to hide from his parents, pursue his dream of becoming an actor, and successfully performed "A Midsummer Night's Dream". But in the face of the harsh expectations of his parents, Neil ended up not being as "unyielding" as the verse he read aloud. Between reality and dream, Neil had no choice but to die. The director uses the end of a fresh life and the destruction of beauty to issue a silent protest to the secular society.
I've always thought that it would be terrible if we were born with a plan for our lives! However, no matter what I think, in reality, this kind of thing happens frequently. Most people still choose to obey and choose to "live in peaceful despair." Neil resisted, but went to death in an extreme way of resistance. He used his death to awaken his companions more profoundly.
Another main character, Todd, is the narrative core of the film. Todd was originally a good student who was naturally timid, shy, and did not "provocateur". His older brother was an excellent representative of Welton College, which weighed on his already repressed heart. After Keating gave them their first class, Todd went back to the dorm, wrote "SEIZE THE DAY" in a notebook, and then hurriedly tore it off to study his homework. In an English class, Keating encouraged students to look at the world from a different angle, to speak out and find new perspectives. Cautious Todd, the last to stand on the podium at the front of the classroom. All of this shows that he does not dare to have his own ideas and is dedicated to being a good and well-behaved student. Later, after Mr. Keating's education was deepened step by step, Todd, who was calm on the surface and hidden a volcano in his heart, began to slowly germinate his passion. On his birthday, he received a cookie-cutter birthday present from his parents. After confiding in Neil, Todd threw the beautiful stationery into the sky. At the end of the film, Keating is forced to leave school. Todd was the first to stand up, stepping onto his desk first, shouting "Captain, my Captain" to see Keating off.
Neil dies, Todd is reborn. Keating tries to awaken the passion of creation and desire for achievement in everyone's heart; encourages students to break free from the fetters of habit and character, cherish their youth, seize the educational dream of absorbing the essence of life every day, and finally realize it in Todd. Keating was honored despite his "defeat".
What excites me most about the film is that Neil and his friends, inspired by Mr. Keating's enthusiasm, rebuild the Dead Poets Club. They chose the back mountain cave of the school as a stronghold, and operated secretly in the middle of the night. They walk through the woods under the stars like ghosts, gather in caves to sing, smoke, tell ghost stories, read their favorite poems aloud, use poetry to exchange ideas, and forge their character. All the members of the club, under the light of poetry, became a group of angels with dreams, cheering and running to freedom - Todd began to abandon his cowardly nature, Charlie read poetry in front of girls, and Knox was even more brave Read a touching poem written by yourself in front of the girl you like. I saw that in the cave, their vivid faces, under the reflection of the flashlight, turned into flowing classical oil paintings.
Mr. Keating declared enthusiastically: "Only in dreams can one be truly free. It has always been and will always be so." Mr. Keating's words always point to this theme: seize the time, do what you really want to do; seize Follow your own dreams and follow your own path! Every word he uttered was so deafening, every line of poetry he recited made the blood boil. He is like Prometheus who stole fire from the earth, using the spark of thought to light up the beacon for the students to move forward.
Keating, though, was thrown out of the school by the traditionally stubborn school as a scapegoat because of Neil's death. But Todd and his mates have stood up, and so have we, because our dream is never to be like a stagnant pool of water all day long, sitting in any corner and letting frivolity turn us into Food for maggots, so don't hesitate any longer, listen to your heart's call, and act now!
