ideals are peaceful, history is violent

Yesterday, I finally went to see Fury before going down the stall. In a movie theater full of men, I felt like a stranger by myself. After watching it for 20 minutes, I kept thinking why this movie was rated IIB. The remaining half of the face of the comrade-in-arms, the tank pressing over the stacked corpses, the visual impact is too strong, making me feel a little uncomfortable...
But the more I look back, the visual is not so bloody, and the psychological impact is even greater. Norman's growth process is actually the psychological process of the audience watching this movie. From being overwhelmed at the beginning, seeing the brutality with him, realizing the reality, and then full of anger.
The cruelest thing on the battlefield is that you can't help yourself, knowing you can't do it. Kill the children who attacked your side, shoot the unarmed prisoners of war, and finally defend against a battalion of enemy forces with the strength of five. Knowing that they will lose, they can only rush forward with the determination to die. The nature of people makes them feel fearful, and the nature of soldiers makes them fearless.
Every time I see a bit of warmth being trampled on in the fire of war, I don't know if it will awaken or obliterate humanity.

Of course it is the most worthwhile movie to watch in the theater recently. David Aiya is not good at using music, and the soundtrack is not as extravagant as Nolan and Quentin, and he is a little hesitant about whether to strongly influence the mood of the audience. It is getting more and more difficult for war films to create new ideas. All themes have been explored, and the "new" that can be found is often the subject matter and perspective. This is still an anti-hero movie, and the literary drama is more beautiful and unique than Tank Wars.

Fury quotes

  • Wardaddy: [Norman has just killed his first enemy soldiers] Norman. It wasn't nothin,' right?

    Norman Ellison: Come again, Sergeant?

Wardaddy: Rubbin' out those Heinies. Splashed 'em real good. Wasn't nothin,' right?

Norman Ellison: [With an odd look in his eyes] Sure, Sergeant. Yeah, it wasn't nothin.' Fact, I kinda liked it.

  • Trini 'Gordo' Garcia: [Deleted scene] Our tanks are shitboxes. German guns punch through them like butter. We get hit, we're gonna burn, burn up fast. You see that hatch right behind you? We get hit, I'm gone, right through there. I'm not waiting for you, and I'm not helping you. Got that?

Norman Ellison: Yeah, I got it. Thank you.
