thought red shoes

Remember the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale? The human mind (such as self-knowledge and self-awareness mentioned in the play) is the pair of red shoes. Thought is the most proud quality of human beings, just as everyone praises the red shoes in the fairy tale. Humans use their thoughts to create great miracles, just as the little girl Galen in the fairy tale dances in red shoes.
However, this pair of red dancing shoes is not a gift, the little girl fell into the endless dance when she put it on, and could never take off the pair of shoes again. What about mapping to humans? Thoughts are the source of human suffering. We think and find ourselves unfree, irrational, impure, meaningless, purposeless, and endless. Life is born free, but everywhere is in shackles. Man legislates for nature, who will legislate for man? Man is the end, so what can serve as the end self-evidently? When we don't think, we lose our most noble red shoes in the urge of desire and the impact of our senses, but we become "people" in society peacefully. When we think, like those sages, like putting on red dancing shoes, we clearly feel that "human" exists but can never reach it. Thinking is like a drug, which is painful but can't stop.
Thinking about it carefully, it looks like a besieged city. The "people" inside want to come out, but of course some don't; I think that when the siege is built to a small enough size, just as the history of philosophy and thought goes deeper into the essence of thought, the opposition between entering and exiting will tend to infinity.
Now that Arnold has the red shoes, has he really brought the gospel?
Now that Ford has locked up his red shoes, is he just anthropocentric arrogance?

  • Dolores Abernathy: [to Stubbs] Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world, the disarray. I choose to see the Beauty. To believe there is an order to our days. A purpose. I know things will work out the way they're meant to.
