It's a strange family, each with their own troubles and some missing part of their character. Our little sunshine beauty is actually an ordinary little girl with a small belly and big glasses. She likes to imitate the pretentious gesture of the beauty pageant champion when she learns of the award, and dreams that she will have that day. Her brother likes to be quiet and swears not to speak if he fails to get into pilot school. I think he is actually using this as an excuse to escape this dying family. Dad talks about how to be successful and how important it is, but he is actually a failure in business. Mom is a housewife who seems to treat everyone well, but she always reminds everyone of the crisis in this family. Grandpa is an old urchin who was kicked out of a nursing home because of drug addiction, and the dance he performed with Oliver, the little beauty in the sun, can only be known by watching it...and my uncle, a gay writer with suicidal thoughts. It was such a strange combination that embarked on a journey to California for Oliver to enter the pageant. In the journey, unexpected things happened one after another, making these family members more and more united, more and more to find their true self, this tendency finally reached its climax at the end of the film - cool! In fact, everything is because they have a kind heart that cares for their families.
The details of the film are great, a few key hugs, grandpa's last life course, uncle and brother's discussion of Proust, the yellow van that needs to be pushed by a human to start every time, and then jumps into the car one by one (This is getting more and more funny), and the twists and turns of participating in the beauty pageant in the end... There are too many. Although they are both films that reflect the life of the American middle class, "Little Miss Sunshine" and "American Beauty" have gone in two different directions, but they are equally wonderful! Alas, when will there be such a movie in our country? It's not the so-called big productions like "Wuji", "Night Banquet", and "The City Wears Golden Armor" that can't move people's hearts. I thought of "Angel Amelie" again, it is a rare classic, my favorite movie, the kind of surprise and enjoyment in the process of watching, really few movies can bring me again, but in this movie I have found a bit of that feeling. I also think of Taiwan's "Blossoming Mermaid", which is somewhat similar to "Angel Amelie", which is not bad (at least it is more suitable for girls like me), but the gap is not a little bit compared to the former.
In short, on such a night, watching such a movie alone is a great holiday enjoyment!
