When you get close, it becomes ordinary

I always felt that this film was telling a fable.

A superman, a superwoman, are good enough to do everything, including immortality. They seemed like a natural couple, and they must have thought so themselves, that they bonded. At this time, they found that the super power suddenly disappeared, and both parties became ordinary people, mortals who would grow old and die. Only by staying away from each other can you be a superman. So, they separated, but they were not reconciled. They tried to reunite every few hundred years, but it was futile.

There are many such men and women around us, each of them is good enough. In the eyes of others, they are a perfect match, and they are also attracted to each other. Naturally, they get closer and closer, and those who are impatient will combine. After all, where else can we find such a good match. Yes. When they got close, the problem came, and it was soon discovered that the other party was actually very ordinary. If it were two ordinary people, it would be good to live a normal life like this. But excellent people don't think so. They have to leave, but they are not reconciled. All the energy is exhausted in the separation and closing. The excellence is not there, and they are dying. In the end, just leave.

But why? There is no answer in the movie, nor in life

Compared to an alternative superhero story, this time the protagonist is an unwelcome job. The first half is a course for public brand image building, and the "love drama" in the second half is neither poignant nor touching. The plot is severely compressed, making it impossible to chew.

Hancock quotes

  • Hancock: You're gonna change the world. Good job, Ray.

  • Ray Embrey: Why were you flying? You were flying, Mary.

Hancock: Yeah, she was definitely flying.

Mary Embrey: Okay, I was flying. And I'm very strong as well. It's just the way we are.

    Ray Embrey: We?

Mary Embrey: Me and him. It's just us now. All the others paired up and died.

Hancock: Oh, you didn't say anything about the others paired up, at the trailer.

Ray Embrey: You were at his trailer.

Mary Embrey: It's very hard for me to explain.

Ray Embrey: Great, I'm all ears, Mary.

    Hancock: Me too.

Ray Embrey: Do me a favor. Just give me and my wife one moment.

Hancock: Hey, don't... Don't bring it here, Ray.

Ray Embrey: The adults are talking, for one second.
