It is hard to imagine that the transvestite actor is actually the male protagonist in Requiem of Dreams. Although the real life is not gay, he expresses the transvestite's heart movements and expressions and the softness of women just right in the details. In Matthew McConaughey, it is superficial and slightly vulgar, but it brings out the idea of stoic survival inside. The story is flat and straightforward, without the so-called ups and downs, but it is a way to see the difficulties and failures of personal struggles. The little people in the big environment can only take care of their own lives, and they will not be so good that they can help them for free, and they will not lose their weak and only moral bottom line.
