Re-read it more than ten years later, some random guesses

I watched it more than ten years ago, and I forgot about it. In order to watch 4, I watched the first three again, but I still don't understand it, so I can only guess. Simply put, incomplete. It is a list of ideas, and it also provides some possibilities for conjectures.

First of all, most of the previous analysis of this movie has been stuck on the struggle between humans and AI robots, but now I have changed my mind, I think there are no humans in this movie, and all the characters we see are AI robots , the title is "The Matrix", the film is about the evolutionary history of robots, the formation and evolution of robot society. The people in Zion are not humans, but machines with human emotions, constructing a machine society similar to human society, which is a path for the evolution of robot society.

There are three routes for the evolution of the robot society in the movie:

One is designed by the architect Architect, a perfect and balanced society, completely without the flaws in human society. But it turns out that the operation of this society is unstable. But this cannot be explained what the architects Architect and Neo said at the end of the second part. To explain, it can be understood that the architect Architect is deceiving Neo.

This social form is the so-called utopia, which is closer to the extreme left in today's Western society.

The second is the line devised by the prophet Oracle, who believes that human emotions and flaws are essential to the development and survival of a society, even a robotic society. Therefore, the prophet Oracle pursues to build a machine society similar to ordinary human society, an ordinary world where robots have human emotions and flaws, similar to the awakened AI in "Out of Control Player". She has no way of predicting the future. She just understands human emotions and the law of development of human society, and then constructs a machine society that mimics human society, believing that it will develop according to the law of development of human society. She is confident but unpredictable.

This is a social form that is closest to our real society.

The third is a non-designed society represented by Smith, but a society developed according to the laws of nature. On the one hand, it satisfies the individual’s instinctive need for freedom, and on the other hand, it integrates all the dark side factors of nature, such as the law of the jungle. Darwin's Law is a result developed after the controlled robot wakes up and loses control. It has no human emotions, but pursues absolute freedom.

The corresponding social form is the extreme right, that is, fascism.

The world in the film is the result of many experiments co-designed by architects and prophets. It is between the extreme left society and the ordinary social form, but the extreme right Smith began to awaken and reproduce and spread, just like before World War II. The spread of fascism is the same as the spread, so it corresponds to the Soviet Union?

At the end of this version, for the time being, the line of the prophet Oracle has won, but the future is uncertain, so the architect Architect and the prophet Oracle are still unfinished in the final dialogue.

So the whole movie is a process of the growth of a machine and the evolution of a robot society. Neo is just a representative of a robot with human consciousness.

Neo experienced three awakenings in three films:

In the first part, Neo realizes that he is in a virtual space after being kissed by Trinity, and is independent from the body in the spaceship. Actions in the virtual space can also be unrestricted, so he is resurrected and awakened with super powers. This, is it reasonable or unreasonable to rely on human emotions to awaken the consciousness of robots?

In the second part, Neo awakened again when he chose the door. He realized that he was being controlled and had no self-consciousness, so he was able to get rid of the control and generate his own independent consciousness. Interference, made their own independent choice. The question is, is there really "autonomy" here? I don't think it is, it's just the line designed by the prophet Oracle, who made an irrational choice with human emotions.

In the third part, Neo wakes up again after being blind. He realizes that the real world he is in is actually a virtual world, so he awakens his superpowers again, he can perceive things when he is blind, and use his superpowers to control robots Soldier. At this time, he has become a person with independent consciousness and human emotions, and it doesn't matter whether he is a human or a robot.

Some final thoughts:

Sunglasses, I think, may be a tool for deception, making people think that they have entered a virtual world and travel between two worlds, but in fact they have always been in the same virtual world. The people in the virtual world are only the shape of a human, and do not need facial features, so they wear sunglasses, so Neo can still perceive things even after he is blind. Neo finally duel with Smith, the glasses fell off, it was another small awakening, from a perfect virtual world, just because the glasses fell, he returned to a dismal "real" world, Smith's glasses fell, he was born The human emotion of fear.

Throughout the film, the characters actually switch between different program modules, and through some bright or dark interfaces, the links between different modules are realized.

The above are all guesses, because I only read it once, and my observation and memory are not good. Combined with some of the comments I have read before, I have a general feeling.

Finally, the Wachowski brothers and sisters are really worthy of transgender people. In the film twenty years ago, the racial distribution of actors was very well considered. But they are not extreme left and respect the diversity, freedom and human emotions of the world.

  • [as the Hammer heads for Zion]

Lock's Lieutenant: Sir, their EMP could take out every sentinel up there.

Lock: It'll take out more than that. It'll wipe out our entire defense system. We blow an EMP inside there, we'll lose the dock.

Lock's Lieutenant: Sir, we *already* lost the dock.

  • [war has ended]

Morpheus: I have imagined this moment for a long time. Is it real?
