Just like an American patriotic education film.
Although it is based on true events, many details in the film are still skeptical:
1. The protagonist's halo is too obvious. In the hail of bullets, he rushed to the front as a medic but was not injured. He stayed in Hacksaw Ridge alone, and the Japanese army did not find it after many sweeps;
2. The motive for not holding a gun is not sufficient, I can't see why his belief is more pure than that of other soldiers, just because he almost killed his brother when he was a child? Nearly shot your own father? It makes people unable to feel how the beliefs behind them are shaped. Of course, the inability to understand this may be caused by the cultural difference that Chinese people have no beliefs since childhood;
3. When encountering injured Japanese soldiers in the tunnel, the Japanese soldiers did not shout, which is very different from the image of the Japanese who struggled and persevered in the whole article;
Therefore, I am more convinced that this is a film that has been beautified for release .
In addition, the idea is not profound enough. Leaving aside patriotism, can only a miraculous example be used to spread the humanitarian spirit of "no killing" in the world?
But I have to say that the film reflects a lot of the real situation of World War II, which is worth pondering. For example, the military force of the US military, when fighting the Japanese army, the M4 submachine gun against the Japanese army rifle, supplemented by the naval artillery fire, is simply crushing, not to mention the sufficient military supplies and strong medical logistics. These details made me feel pity for the Japanese soldiers. In order to implement the commander's (or the empire's) war will, an impossible task had to be completed. Thinking that before the war started, these people should have been the most ordinary workers on the streets of Japan or farmers in the fields, and they also had loving wives and lovely children, which made people feel embarrassed.
To be honest, the heroine is very good-looking, but the line of love has not unfolded, which is a pity.
To be honest, I don't believe in miracles.
