time and inertia

"If we can change the past..." is a rotten assumption in science fiction movies. Most of these films go to great lengths to use this fascinating assumption to change the fate of characters and drive plot conflict.
But the film replied: Don't easily reverse your destiny, change the status quo, you will undoubtedly fall into a worse situation - the version I saw ended up being even more exaggerated: the protagonist finally had nowhere to go, and had to go back to the time before he was born , that is, the fetal state, and then self-termination, so there is no such person in this world from now on, and the series of tragedies he brought to his friends will be written off. Got him - what a pessimistic tone, is the director promoting fatalism?
Not also. While watching this movie, I was reminded of Ted Jiang's "The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate", which is also about a lost life and a story about turning around fate - and suddenly realized that they were trying to say the same thing : The given of history does not represent the given of historical significance. You cannot change what has already happened, or even make it worse, but you can change the shadow cast by events in people's hearts, and you can redeem yourself.
In addition, the theme song "Stop crying your heart out" is very good, and it fully expresses the theme.
PS "Butterfly Effect" has two parts, the second part is completely a dog-tailed sable, don't watch it.

    Kayleigh Miller: Know what?

Evan: That you were happy once... with me.

Kayleigh Miller: You know there's one major hole in your story, there is no fucking way on this planet, nor any other I would ever be in some fucking sorority.

Evan: [Whispering] You were happy there...
