A good horror episode is when you know it's going to be scary at this time, but you're still taken aback.

Synopsis

Ed and Rowling are a pair of exorcists who specialize in solving paranormal phenomena for their clients.

Such as terrifying puppet events, and people possessed by evil spirits, etc.

Although they have encountered many dangers here, they are still keen to help others out of their suffering.

One day, a woman named Caroline came to them and asked them to help go to her house.

It turned out that the Caroline family bought a large house in the suburbs through auction not long ago.

Although the house is very old, it is very large and suitable for their family.

But after moving in, a series of strange things happened.

The first thing that happened was their dog, who was found tragically dead in the garden early the next morning.

Not only that, but a bird was dying outside the house.

What's even more terrifying is that every night, strange noises will be heard in their house, and some scars appear on Caroline's body out of thin air.

It was all tolerable until one of the daughters was attacked by an unknown object, and she had to come for help.

Rowling is different from ordinary people. She can feel and even see things that others cannot.

As soon as she entered Caroline's house, she found a mass of shadows following their family closely.

Even more terrifying, she found a female corpse hanging from the big tree in front of the house.

In other words, what they have to face may be an evil spirit full of grievances...

Video Analysis

This is the third film I share directed by Wen Ziren, the difference is that the first two "Saw" and "Dead Silence" were written by Ray Warner, while this "The Conjuring" was adapted from Andra Perron's novel "True Story: The House of Darkness and the House of Light", and this novel is adapted from real events, so it is extremely rare as a horror film.

I believe that many people are waiting for the reversal at the end like me. This is also an important factor for Wen Ziren to become famous, but "The Conjuring" obviously disappointed us greatly. It is a relatively "simple" exorcism movie from beginning to end. His previous works are very different, and maybe it is the lack of Ray Warner that makes this script seem "unremarkable", but this movie still gives me a very good impression.

First of all, as a horror film, the film is excellent in terms of atmosphere creation and scary scenes. Especially in the second half of the filming with a handheld camera, it brought us into a real situation. There is a feeling of the Spanish horror film "Death Video". This strong sense of substitution makes people sweat. There is such a feeling that we know that the director is going to scare us at this time, but we are still frightened, which shows that the film is a success at this point.

But the purer the horror film story, the more general, such as "The Grudge" and the like, there is nothing commendable in the plot, and the same is true for "The Conjuring". The plot setting in the film is not as intriguing as "Dead Silence" at all. Although a few episodes are ingenious, it is still difficult to leave a memory point, but the truth obviously does not need so many bells and whistles. I believe that Wen Ziren's purpose this time is not to shock us. , but wants us to be afraid.

Even so, I read something from the film. For example, in the process of watching a movie, I have such a question, why is this movie called "The Conjuring" instead of "Exorcism"? "The Conjuring" gave me the feeling of practicing a kind of witchcraft, not the one presented in the film. But at the end, I seem to understand something the director wants to express.

When Caroline, who was possessed in the film, was exorcised, the final method of success was not "exorcism", but "trick". Rowling used a method similar to arousing human conscience to let her good soul. Returning to achieve the purpose of "exorcism", I think this setting is very clever and meaningful.

When evil spirits haunted, Caroline lost her nature and tried to kill her beloved daughter and destroy this happy family. But in reality, the human nature, which is riddled with desire and greed, is not much better than evil spirits after being destroyed. How many people lose their nature and destroy their happiness because of this? Therefore, the "exorcism" of external forces is always the cause, and the return of one's own good soul is the real purpose.

Humans who have lost their souls of goodness will do some depraved things. How is this different from being possessed by evil spirits?
